    Start of The Trail Of Tears
    During the Trail of Tears American soilders held American Indians at gun point as they took everything they had after they took everything they pushed the American Indians into southwestern land Along the way "Whooping cough, typhus, dysentery, cholera and starvation"(-History.com) were all factors that were super devestating that gave it the name "The Trail Of Tear."

    During this the Seminoles, Choctaws, Chickasaws, Creeks and Cherokees were all involved. The person behind all of this though was Andrew Jackson with his Indain Removal act
  • Jim Thorpe Life

    Jim Thorpe Life
    Jim Thorpe was born May 28, 1887 in Lincoln County OK. He grew up in a Native American family because of this he also had an Indian name which was Wa-Tho-Huk, which translated to "Bright Path". As he got older he eventually became the first Native American to win a gold metal for the US. He then died on March 28, 1953 in Lomita CA.

    Oklahoma Land Rush
    The Oklahoma Land Rush was the first evern land rush in the US. A land rush is when the country opens up private land and they have the surrounding area's communities rush out to claim more or new land for their family and friends. During this there would often be people that would leave before and claim the land before it even started or some would just leave before the gun shot/canon that would be the start of the rush. These people are called Sooners.

    Oklahoma Was announced a state on November 16, 1907. After it was announced a state they made Oklahoma City the capitol. With becoming an official state Oklahoma was was given a quarter that has a scissor tail flyfetcher with some flowers. The states obviously all have a unique shape, but Oklahoma along with a few other states have a very destinct shape. The state is shaped like a cooking pot or also known as to have a pan handle.

  • Begining of the Dust Bowl

    Begining of the Dust Bowl
    The Dust Bowl began in 1934 when the natural grass in the Oklahoma plains was pulled up to plant wheat, but what they soon found out was how when a drought swept through, the plants weren't able to keep their roots in the ground and were blown away. After all the plants were gone the winds blew and threw the loose top soil and sand into the wind. This created huge dust clouds also know as Black Blizzards. These made the people have to evactuate the area to surrounding cities and towns.

    As this disasterous event took place the government came up with some ways to help fix and provent it from happening again. These ideas were to plant trees and replant the natrual grasses also to plow the ground to hold water better, give the farmers new livestock, and allow farm fields to remain empty for the fact that new the soil could regenerate.
  • Oklahoma City Bombing

    On April 19, 1995 Timothy McVeigh attached home-made explosives to a vehicle and detinated it out side the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. The goal was to destroy the building completely, but only managed to destroy half the building. In the end Timothy McVeigh managed to kill 168 people. Later in 2001 Timothy McVeigh was given the death penalty and killed.
