    It was a cartoon by Benjamin Franklin that warned the colonies to join the fight against the French and Natives. It was used as propaganda.
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian war began in 1754 and carried through until 1763. It was a battle between Britian and French who were joind by the Indians. Ending in a huge loss for the French but a huge gain for the colonists of the Americas. They gained land westward which started the westward expansion.l

    King George III says that colonist cannot settle west of the Appalachian Mountians. This causes tention between the colonists and Britian. The colonist decide to still settle west anyways.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    A tax placed by the British Parliment that made all American colonists pay a small fee for every printed piece of paper. The cost was a small amount, but colonists were upset that a tax was placed in the first place.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    After they won the French and Indian War the British were in debt and therefor taxed the colonists on tea. As a way of rebelion against the tax, they refused to pay and threw off boxes of tea into the harbor.

    5 Acts set by Parliment that resticted the freedom of the colonists. Four were ment to punish Massachusetts as a result of the Boston Tea Party. Quartering Act, Boston Port Act, The Massachusetts Bay Regulating Act, and the Impartial Administration of Justic Act effected Massachusetts. The Quebec Act gave religious freedom to Catholics in Quebec
  • Second Continental Congress

    It started in 1774 and continued until October 26th of that same year. John Hancock was the authority of the Second Continental Congress. All of the colonies sent representatives except for Georgia, who didnt send any until the fall.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    Americans were fighting for their righs to become independant form Britain. Continental Congress members were voting on the issue. Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin drafted their ideas to England. In Philidalphia on July 4th the Declaration of Independence was addopted.

    The book, Common Sense, by Thomas Paine talks about governement and religion in the colonies. He argued for independence from England and a creation of a democratic republic in the colonies. He offten mentioned the bible because he knew that the colonists reading were very religious.
