    Discovery!

    On this day Columbus landed on one of the Bahamian islands. He was not the first person to discover America, but he may have been the first to leave a settlement behind.

    The Thirteen Colonies

    In 1590, the first British settlement was made because a certain British gentleman felt that his country should be equal, if not greater to Spain.
    That was only the start. Many more colonies followed, finally ending with the creation of Georgia.

    Industrial Revolution

    The Industrial Revolutio went on for many years. Starting with a really crappy rendition of a steam engine, it slowly evolved to the point of assembly lines, and the creation of the Model T.

    The French/Indian War

    The French and Indian war went on for many years. Things started to heat u[ with King George's war, but soon after, the entire country was at stake.
    The French had made an alliance with the Indians.
    Even so, it ended in Ohio Valley, where the colonies finally won back control from the Indians and the French.
  • Boston Tea Party

    In response to the Tea Act, this is one of the most famed acts of colonial defiance. Samuel adams and the sons of liberty through 342 chests into Boston Harbor.

    Revolutionary War

    This was our fight for independence, and through a series of not so small miracles, we actually won!
    So much can be said about what happened during this war, but put simply enough, we wouldn't have won if not for those miracles.

    Lewis and Clark Expedition

    Setting out to explore our country's newfound borders, these two men and their Corps of Discovery opened up relations with the Native Americans across the country. Some were good, and some were bad.
    They made the first official maps that expanded into the West.
  • MIssouri Compromise

    When Missouri asked to be admitted as a slave state, it threatened to upset the fragile balance between the other slave states and the free states.
    There was a compromise made that stated Missouri was a slave state, but Maine would be a free state.

    Bleeding Kansas

    When the fight over Kansas started, it seemed small.
    That changed when the smaller riots ands fights turned into battles, raids, and the death of citizens.
    It may have started small, but ultimately, it lead straight into the Civil War.
