The Manhattan Project Begins
A secret military project created to produce the first US nuclear weapon, this happened in the year of 1942. The fear of the Nazi Germany would build and use a nuclear weapon during World War ll triggered the start. Three main research and production facilities were established at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The Oak Ridge Laboratories provided uranium-235 and Hanford produced weapons-grade pluttonium. -
The Tripartite Pact Signed
It was signed between Japan, Germany, and Italy. The governments of Germany, Italy and Japan. As a condition precedent of any lasting peace that all nations of the world be given each its own proper place. Decided to stand by and work with each one another in regard to their efforts in greater East Asia and regions of Europe. -
Pearl Harbor attacked
The war between Japan and the United States began when differences over China drove the two nations apart. The morning of December 7, 1941, the Japan surprised air attacked the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor. After a devastating two hours more than 2,400 Americans were dead, 21 ships had sunk or were damaged, and more than 180 U.S. aircrafts destroyed. -
The Doolittle Raids
The Doolittle Raids was men that were volunteers for a very dangerous mission. They had planes to attack on Japan and land in China on parts where was still free, but things did not go has planned. Some of the airmen were captured and three out of eight of the airmen were executed. -
The Battle of Coral Sea
The Battle of Coral Sea was fought in waters southwest of the Solomon Islands and eastward from New Guinea. If Japan would have won that battle they could have captured New Guinea. No ship made any contact with the enemy’s ship, the battles planes went as suspected. -

This battle was fought over and near the U.S. mid-Pacific base at Midway atoll. This battle is known for one of the decisive battles of World War ll. being outgunned and understrength, the Navy of the US went into the battle of Midway turning a deadly Japanese ambush into a crushing victory. -

Largest air-naval battle in World War ll. This battle involved three major naval battles. Precipitated by the U.S. invasion of the Philippines during World War ll. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
The battle of Iwo JIma was one of the last battles of war. Iwo was a island by Japan. Because of the distance from U.S. bases in the Mariana Islands and Japan, the caputring of the Iwo Jima would provide a emergency landing strip of crippled B-29. Truman takes Office
Truman was vice president until 7:09 P.M. on April 12, 1945. Truman was then the 33rd president of the United States after Franklin D. Roosevelt dies in office. Truman picked up the problems from war from where Franklin left off. -
Atomic Bomb in Japan
The atomic bomb flattened the city, killing tens of thousands of civilians. Truman let this go through, he did this to prevent the U.S. Allies death (a numbers of deaths) and force Japan into giving up.
