    George W Bush Inauguration
    On January 20th, 2001, George W Bush became the 43rd president of the United States. Early in his run in 2000, Bush took the lead over Al Gore Jr, but as the election came to a close, Gore actually won over Bush. Florida was the only state left to vote, and they were the final deciders. In the end, Bush ended up beating Al Gore Jr with a vote of 271 to 266. George W Bush's inauguration was important to the US Government because it was the first time teh Supreme Court got involved in an election.

    911 Attacks
    On September 11th, 2001 the World Trade Center was hit by two hijacked planes (American Airlines Flight 11 & American Airlines Flight 175). About an hour later, another hijacked plane (American Airlines Flight 77) crashed into the pentagon, and the final plane (United Airlines Flight 93) crashed in Pennslyvania. A total of 2,977 people were killed within the four attacks. It affected the US because it created a greater use of security in places such as airports and amusement parks.

    The United States, along with forces from the United Kingdom, announce war on Iraq on March 19th, 2003. President Bush and his team had enough evidence to believe that Iraq had, or was building, weapons of mass destruction. The dictator of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, went into hiding soon after the Americans attacked. This event created a big impact in the US Governemnt because it began a long war that involved many people, some who lost their lives, and lots of money to fund.

    On February 24, 2004 San Francisco started issuing same-sex marriage licenses, which were the first ever given out in the US. San Francisco's mayor (of the time), Gavin Newsom, made a risky move by issuing licenses after president George W Bush State of the Union Address, where he talked about his stance against them. This event is important to the US Government because this rebellious act sparked a long lasting debate about the legalization of same-sex marriage licenses.

    On August 29, 2005 a category 3 hurricane, Hurricane Katrina, hit the Gulf Coast of the US. This hurricane caused more than $100 biliion dollars in damage of caused thousands of people in Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana to relocate. Katrina hit over 90,000 miles and killed nearly 2,000 people. Hurricane Katrina is an important event for the US Government because FEMA took days to reach New Orleans and the storm left the government unaware of what actually hit the south eastern tip of the US.

    I entered my first day of kindergarten on September 9th, 2005. I was a student of Roslyn Elementary School. That year, the elementary school moved to Glenside Weldon while the original school was being rebuilt.

    When I was 7, on October 7, 2007, I took my first trip to DIsney World and my first ride on an airplane. I went with my family and my dad's best friend's family. In total, the 10 of us (4 adults and 6 kdis between the ages of 4 and 10) rented a house about 5 miles from the parks. This trip is important to me because it was my first time visiting the most magical place on earth.

    September 29, 2008 marked the biggest single day crash ever recorded of the stock market. During the crash, the economy lost 159,000 jobs and many businesses were filing bankruptcy, or they were pretty close to it. In early October, congress passed the bailout bill to help needy businesses during te crash. This event is important to the US Government because many jobs were lost and it caused Congress to create a bill.

    On January 20th, 2009 Barack Obama was inaugurated as the 44th president of the United States. He beat John McCain 365 votes to only 173 votes. Obama was the first african american and Hawaiian citizen to take office. This event was important to the governement because he was the first black president, which caused some controversy between some citizens and the government.

    Around the time of September 1, 2009 I was one of the starting 9 at a Sunday afternoon Phillies game. Only on Sundays, the employees in the stdium choose 9 random kids to go out on the field at a certain position and meet the player. The kid also gets a ball signed and stands with their player during the Star Spangled Banner. I met Rual Ibanez in left field when I was 9 years old. this event is important to me because I got to meet my favorite baseball player (of the time) and get a signed ball.

    On April 21, 2010 underwater cameras found that a BP pipe, about 42 miles from Louisiana, was leaking oil into the Gulf of Mexico. It took 87 days to cover the leak, but about 3.19 million barrels of oil escaped during that time. This monumental spill killed many types of wildlife from fish to pelicans, and even 22 people died the day before in an explosion of an oil rig. This event is important to the US Government because it took many government agencies and workers of BP to clean the mess.

    Osama Bin Laden's Assassination
    Osama Bin Laden, the head and founder of the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda, was assassinated by the US on May 2, 2011. 25 Navy Seals raided the property in which Bin Laden was hiding out in Abbottabad, Pakistan. In the compound, one woman, three men, including Bin Laden's son, and Osama Bin Laden himself. Bin Laden was taken down by a gunshot wound to the head. This event is important to the US Government because it showed the US can fight against terror.

    I graduated from Roslyn Elementary School on June 15th, 2012. A total of 67 sixth graders graduated from Roslyn. After this day, I was officially a Junior High School student.
  • Marijuana Becomes Legalized in Colorado

    Marijuana Becomes Legalized in Colorado
    Starting January 1, 2014 marijuana became officially legalized in the state of Colorado. Colorado, at the time, was the first jurisdiction to legalize marijuana in the entire world. This event is important to the US Government because the selling of the drug collected more than $76 million in taxes in COlorado, which was used towards education. Also, this event sparked a nation wide debate on legalizing marijuana.

    I got my braces off on July 4th, 2014. After 2.5 long years, I got them off at an orthodontics office in Hatboro. Braces were not that bad, but I was definitely glad to get them off.
  • Broken Leg

    Broken Leg
    On Monday, August 11, 2014, I spiral fractured my tibia. I was skateboarding up and down my street when my skateboard came out from underneath me. I fell and spiral fractured my tibia from my knee to my ankle. I was in a full leg cast for 6 weeks, in a boot for 2.5 months (a total of 15 weeks on crutches), and in physical therapy for 2 months.This event is important to me because it determined my lifestyle for half of a year and caused me to miss out on the school golf season.

    On August 13, 2014 I attened my first concert at Lincoln Financial Field. Oe Direction was in concert and I went with my friend Grace for her birthday/christmas gift. About 3 hours before the concert, I was at CHOP getting a full leg cast on. Instead of sitting way near the top, we got about 30 rows closer to the stage by sitting in the handicapped section. This event is important to me because it was first concert ever.

    MENSA
    In late August, I became a member of MENSA. MENSA is a group made up of people with IQ's that are well above the average level. This prominent group is international, but it also has an AMerican MENSA which reaches out to its member in the US. This event is important to me because I am oficially a apart of MENSA, which can hep me with many things in the future.
