    The Portuguese people explored Africa’s coasts during this time.They were looking for a route to Asia that went through the Mediterranean sea and trade directly. They set up forts so they could trade items like muskets and ivory with Africans.

    European explorers such as Christopher Columbus traveled so they could find resources such as land, gold, spices, food. They sailed across the Mediterranean sea and found a “new world” which some thought was India and some thought was a new world.
