The Portuguese people explored Africa’s coasts during this time.They were looking for a route to Asia that went through the Mediterranean sea and trade directly. They set up forts so they could trade items like muskets and ivory with Africans. -

European explorers such as Christopher Columbus traveled so they could find resources such as land, gold, spices, food. They sailed across the Mediterranean sea and found a “new world” which some thought was India and some thought was a new world. -
