Poverty was still present in 1940 from the previous era's stock market crash. World war 2 was had started during this time which caused events such as the upbringing of women's rights. During the war, men had gotten drafted leaving the women behind. The woman had been put to work in shipyards and factories which lead to women feeling empowered. Lastly racism was a very extreme issue during this time, due to the factors of ww2 the Nazis showed immense racism torwards the Jewish race. -
