    Franklin D. Roosevelt also known as FDR was born on January 30th, 1882 at Hyde Park in New York.

    FDR was the only child of James Roosevelt and his second wife, Sara Delano. Franklin had an older half brother, James Roosevelt Roosevelt (1854-1927), born to his father and his first wife, Rebecca Howland, who died in 1876.

    As a boy, FDR enjoyed the sheltered life provided by his wealthy and well-known family. A pampered child, he wore dresses until he was five and then kilts. It wasn't until he was eight did Franklin wear his first pair of pants or take his first unsupervised bath.
