    In 1803 Thomas Jefferson made the Louisiana Purchase with Napolean of France. This was done to help to start the settlement of the west. The territory spread from spread from the Mississippi River to the Rockies Mountains and from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. The land was purchased three cents to every acre for a total of $11,250,00 for 828,00 acres.

    Milliard Fillmore was a member of the Whig Party. In fact he was the last Whig Party member to become President because the party split after his presidency.     James Buchanon who pardoned Brigham Young. Brigham Young was the founder of Salt Lake City and was the first governer of Utah. He lead an attack on a group of about one hundred civilians headed for California but he was able to reach a peace aggreement with Buchanon that pardoned his crime.

    Lincoln was invited to speak at Gettysburg Cemetary. This was on the scene of one of the worst battle in the civil war. In this famous speech which later became one of the most famous speeches ever. He highlighted the importance of human equality stated in the Decleration of Independence and the sacraficies of the civil war veterans and the new birth of America and the preservaton of the Union.

    Due to the stock market crashing on Black Tuesday that lead to the Great Depression that lead to Franklin Roosevelt creating the New Deal to help get America out of the situation. There are two parts to the New Deal. The first part deals mostly with stopping banks from letting people withdraw their money and making things even worse. The second part deals with helping the unemployed get jobs and insurance for the people unable to work or currently unemployed

    Harry Truman's decision to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was done instead of an invasion of Japan to end the war with Japan more quickly. This was a very top secret event and at first Truman didn't even know about the atomic bomb. When he dropped the bomb it was a highly scrutinized action because of mass casualties that it caused and has been the only use of that type of weapon in any war.

    What became known as Reaganomics was Ronald Reagan's economic plan to cut inflation. He wanted to reduce government spending, taxes and government's regulations. He believed in supply side economics which is if you cut state taxes that would encourage economic growth and offset the intial revenue loss. He also ended the strict price controls that was imposed by Nixon.
