    Kansas City Massacre
    Floyd, along with Adam Richetti, became suspects in a gunfight known as the "Kansas City Massacre" that resulted in the deaths of four policemen. Floyd was suspected as being an accomplice of Vernon Miller, who initiated the gunfight. The alleged accomplice was said to have a gunshot wound on his shoulder, but Floyd had no injuries. He owned up to other crimes, but vehemently denied involvement in this one. This crime was also inconsistent with his other crimes because he was not a hired killer.

    Floyd was shot in a cornfield while being pursued by local law officers and FBI agents. Despite his life of crime, Floyd was viewed positively by the general public because when he robbed banks, he allegedly destroyed mortgage documents. Locals in Oklahoma referred to him as "Robin Hood of the Cookson Hills".
