    Formation of the Axis Powers
    Fascious countries join together by signing the Tripartite Pact (Germany, Italy, and Japan). These countries were known as the Axis Powers. It was formed to keep the US out of war. These countries would become the enemies of the US if they joined the war.
  • 1940 Presidential Election

    Roosevelt ran for a 3rd term agains Wendell Willkie. Roosevelt won by nearly 55% of the votes cast. They both promised to keep the US out of war. They believed in the same things so they decided not to change and just relect someone they trusted.
  • Lend Lease Plan.

    The US lent supplies to Great Britian. We couldnt sell them because it went again the Neutrality Act. It brought us closer to the war because we cant remain neutral if we are giving supplies to the enemies to the Axis Powers.
  • Supporting Stalin

    Hitler broke the non-aggression pack that said he couldnt invade the Soviet Union. He does invade it so the US sends supplies to Stalin. The US is once again supporting one of the Axis Powers and they dont like it!
  • Signing of the Alantic Charter.

    Signing of the Alantic Charter.
    a meeting took place between winston churchill and FDR aboard the USS Augusta to discuss the war in Europe and possible US commintment. the meeing resulted in the signing of the Alantic Charter. Which was a joint deceleration of war goals. they goals included collective security, disarmament, self-determination, economic cooperation, and freedom of the seas. The US is once again supporting Great Britian in their fight against the Axis Powers.
  • Shoot on Sight.

    Shoot on Sight.
    After a German submarine fired at the US destroyer Greer Roosevelt order his navy commanders to responed. this took place in the Atlantic Ocean in Sept. of 1941. He ordered the navy to shoot any German submarines on sight. U-Boats shot at 3 more US ships before Roosevelt announced that we had been attacked. Finally the Senate repealed the ban against arming merchant ships. this brought the US closer to WWII because Germans were killing many Americans.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    Attack on Pearl Harbor
    A Japanese dive-bomber flew low over Pearl Harbor then was followed by more than180 Japanese warplanes launched from 6 aircraft carriers. In less than 2 hours they had killed 2,403 Americans and wounded 1,178. Roosevelt declared war against Japan, and 3 days later Germany and Italy declared war on the US. This was the last major event that led US involvment to WWII.
