Hepburn Act
A federal law that protected the powers of the commerce commission. It created railroad regulations. This led to free passes to loyal shippers. -
Meat Inspection Act
This law makes it legal to adulterate or miss brand meat and meat products being sold as food. This law makes sure that meat is processed under strictly regulated sanitary conditions. -
Pure Food and Drug Act
This law was the start of consumer protection laws. Prohibited the sale of miss branded or adulterated food and drugs. -
Antiquities Act
This act preserved American Antiquities. This was the very first law that protected cultural and natural resources on federal land. -
16th Amendment
The 16th amendment states that Congress has the power to lay and collect taxes on incomes. They wanted to do this without having to base it on population. -
Mann-Elkins Act
This was also a law that created rules and regulations for railroads. Also protected the powers of the Commerce Commission. Worked with the Hepburn Act. -
17th Amendment
The Senate of the United States will be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people for six years. Each Senator shall have one vote. -
Federal Reserve Act
The law created the Federal Reserve System, the central banking system of the United States. This protected the government by having regulations. -
Clayton Antitrust Act
This act made sure that companies behave themselves and that there is fair competition among businesses. The act led to lower prices, better quality, greater innovation, and wider choice. -
Federal Trade Commission Act
This act was a United States federal law which established the Federal Trade Commission. The Act was signed into law by US President Woodrow Wilson. -
Keating-Owen Act
This act was for reducing child labor. It limited the working hours of children and stopped the sale of goods produced by child labor. -
Adamson Act
This law established the eight-hour workday, with additional pay for overtime work, for railroad workers. This was the first time the government regulates labor conditions of non government employees. -
Volstead Act
This act is known as intoxicating beverage as anything that contained more than one half of one percent alcohol. They set the limit at 2.5%. And prohibited alcoholic drinks. -
18th Amendment
Amendment to the United States Constitution established the manufacture, sale, or transportation of alcohol in the U.S. -
19th Amendment
This amendment gave women the right to vote. They thought that gender should not determine if you should vote or not. -
Workers Compensation Act
provides workers' payment coverage for employment-related injuries and diseases. Includes wage replacement and payment for medical care.
