  • Manifest Destiny

    Manifest Destiny
    Manifest destiny was the belief that all american settlers had to push westward in search of more land. In involvement with this expansion was that the Americans had to push out the Natives. The Natives hated this because it destroyed their culture,land, and ways of living. Eventually the Natives abide by the Americans ways and moved even more westward but hated it. The picture shows the ways it affected the Natives but also helped the Americans. The picture is called "Manifest destiny."
  • The Mormons

    The Mormons
    The Mormons was and is still a religion that is still alive today. It was founded by a man named Joseph Smith. It was said that Joseph Smith was greeted by God and Jesus and was told not to join a church and wait for their return. Its said that it took three years for a answer from God. When he did Joseph was told to look for golden plates. These plates contained on them what is known as the Book of Mormon. The picture below is of The book of Mormons.
  • Andrew Jackson (Involvement in Native American Removal)

    Andrew Jackson (Involvement in Native American Removal)
    Andrew Jackson made a speech to congress on the regard of Native American removal to benefit the Americans. Andrew wanted and tried to make it a even section that both the Americans and the Natives would benefit off the cause. Andrew wanted to move the Natives to their own land called a reservation so they can keep to themselves. After this he wanted to spread the American colonies westward taking the Natives land that they had. The picture below is of Andrew Jackson.
  • The Alamo

    The Alamo
    The Alamo was a fort that is near San Antonio, Texas. The fort then at that time was protected and guarded by american/Texan soldiers. On February 23, 1836, the Texan guards was greeted by thousands of Mexican soldiers under General Santa Anna rule. Then Santa Anna ordered a siege upon the fort that lasted 13 days. After the 13 days the Mexicans forces became so strong that the Americans couldn't hold. Santa Anne ordered no survivors and only a few were spared. Picture is of the Alamo.
  • Joseph Smith

    Joseph Smith
    Joseph Smith was a very aware man. He was depicted as a religious leader back then. He published the Book or Mormons and was thought to make the religion. He had a bunch of people to convert and make his religion bigger. Still today Mormons are seen as one of the biggest religions on earth. Joseph renovated a old Christian church and tuned it into what is known today as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The picture below is of Joseph Smith a Mormon.
  • Trail of Tears

    Trail of Tears
    The Trails of Tears is one of the most remembered events with the Native Americans. The Trail of Tears started on 1838 and ended on 1839. Andrew Jackson wanted the Natives to move so he sent them even more westward. The trail stretched from Tennessee all the way to Oklahoma. This was part of the Indian Removal Act. Many Native Americans seen this trail as the walk of shame since they got pushed out of their land. The picture below is a depiction of what it was like on this journey.
  • Mexican War

    Mexican War
    The Mexican-American war was the first ever fought war on non-american ground. This all took time with the manifest destiny. The fighting started on the Rio Grande where the U.S. won and took the soil known as present day California, Utah, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico. The picture is of the map that the war took place in.
  • Donner Party

    Donner Party
    The Donner party is a very dark part in U.S. history. The Donner Party was lead by George Donner with eighty-seven followers. The Party eventually stopped at fort Bridger and decided to take a shortcut. Little did they know this shortcut would take 4 months. On the journey food became scarce that Children and families had to eat rugs, hide,and each other. When they was finally found there was only 47 people out of the 87 that left.   • Brigham Young (In relation to the Mormons)

    Brigham Young (In relation to the Mormons)
    Brigham Young was the secondary ruler after Joseph Smith died. Brigham young wanted to move out of Illinois after what happened back at Nauvoo IL. He then lead the rest of the Mormons to the Rocky Mountains and eventually Salt Lake City. When the Mormons and Brigham got there they had to split two things, wood and water. The land there was hot and scarce for food and water. The Mormons eventually pulled through and made a colony with Brigham as their leader. The picture is of Brigham Young.
  • Gold Rush

    Gold Rush
    In 1847 the United States fastest and strongest migration. Over 300,000 people flocked to California and Oregon regions in search of the great metal called gold. In the beginning, the gold was so prominent and rich that you could pick it straight off the ground. After some years of doing this men started to pan, lakes, rivers, streams for the metal. The first people to hear about the news was from the sandwich islands, now known as Hawaii. The picture is of the Gold Rush region.
