Who invented Radia?
An Itallian inventor, Marconi, sent and recieved the first radio signal. This is not what you think radio is today, it was just him tapping in lines. There was no voice or music coming out of his signals. -
Audion Tube
The Audion tube amplifiy sounds. It was rumored that Reginal Fessenden invented the tube, but unfortunatley he did not make it into the history books. Instead, Lee De Forest got the recognition. -
The Titanic
The Titanic is a notorious event that happened. Before the Radio was invented, there would be no communication out on the water. The main reason why there were survivors of the Titanic, is because of the Radio. If it was not for the Radio, everyone would have died. -
Call Letters
The Call letters are one of the many limits the FRC set up. Call letters were an assigned letter to the radio stations based off their location. If the Radio station is East of the Mississippi River, then the name of the radio station has to start with a "W". If the radio station is West of the river, then it has to start with a "K". -
Radia Stations
The first Radio Station took 25 years to develop after the Radia was invented. The first station was founded by Frank Conrad and was called 8XK. Later it was changed to KDKA. Today, it is still running out of Pitsberg, Pennsylvania. -
Uncle Charlie
Personal radio stations were called Uncle Charlies. To have a personal radio station, you did not need license to open one up, as long as you have the money. However, today, you need a licence to operate a station. -

The way the Radio Stations made their money was off of commercials. The first commercial was made by the WEAF for an apartment complex. They charged the 50$ to air it. -
AM waves
AM waves are called Amplitude modulation. Modulation means the change of the height of the wave. AM waves has a range of 535 KHz- 1605 KHz. -
FM waves
The FM waves are known as Frequency Modulation. The FM Modulation changes the frequency of the the waves (how many times the waves occurs). The FM waves has a range of 88 - 108 MHz. -
FRC
Since personal radio stations were getting to popular, the FRC was formed. FRC stands for Federal Radia Commission. Then set rules for arising radio stations: you must have lisense and have an assigned limits. -
The Golden Era
The peak of the radio was shockingly during the Great Depression. The Radio provided people with a sense of peace and assurance. The Radio was like an escape for people to release tension about their everyday life. -
The decline of Radio
The TV takes over the populartity of the Radio. Advertisement wanted to create an in-person effect, and showed their products on screen. The Radio lost a lot of money but the only thing that saved this legacy, was music. -
Elvis Presley
Elvis Presley was one of the singers that made Radio up and rising after their downfall. Elvis music attracted the Rock N Roll crowd and gained respect. His music made such a legacy, president Jimmy Carter commented on his journey, -
Diana Ross
Diana Ross also plays a significant part in the popularity of Radio. She still performs today. One of the Dreamgirls were inspired by Ross herself. Also, she introduced the Jackson 5 out to the public. -
Righteous Brothers
Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield were called the Righteous Brothers. They were known for their "blue-eyed soul", which symbolizes their emotional vocals. Their first recorded song was called Little Latin Lupe Lu.
