    Marconi and the first radio signal
    Marconi was an Italian inventor who is credited to have sent and have recieved the first radio signal in 1895. It is not for sure if he was the very first one but he was the first to put himself out there.
  • First Atlantic Wireless Transmission

    On December 12, 1901 Marconi sent the first radio transmission across the Atlantic Ocean. It traveled 2,000 miles from England to Canada.

    Lee De Forest either created or borrowed the idea of the audion tube in 1906. The audion tube helps to amplify sounds. It is believed that a Canadian inventor, Reginald Fessenden was the one who actually came up with the idea but he didn't get into the history.

    In 1920, 8XK later renamed KDKA, was the first commerical radio station, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. It is in AM.

    November 2, 1920 first US presidental election was broadcasted on KDKA. The winner was annouced and it was former President Warren G. Harding.

    In 1922, WEAF aired a ten min. commercial that was an ad for an apartment complex. They charged $50 for ten min. Now commercials can range all the way up to millions of dollars.
