  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a big impact on the Revolutionary War. On December 16, 1773 the many angry colonists invaded the tea ships and dumped out the tea because they wanted to show the parliment that they were not going to pay the unessary tax on the tea. This event was one of the starting points of the war, because the colonists were testing the British and becoming angry about their rights.

    The Intolerable Acts
    The Parliment was angry at the colonists because of The Boston Tea Party. On March 24, 1774 the Parliment passed five crazy laws to show the colonists that they were still in charge. The colonists did not like these unessary laws and did many things to avoid them, such as boycotting.

    The First Continental Congress was a meeting when the colonists discussed their rights against the British. On September 5, 1774, representives from each colony (except Georgia) met in Philedelphia and discussed their realtionship with the British.

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord
    The Battle of Lexington and Concord took place in April of 1775. This Battle was the first engagements of the Revolutionary War. The battles marked the outbreak of open armed conflict between The Kingdom of Great Britian and its thirteen colonies in the mainland of British North America. About 700 british army regulars, under Leiutenant Colonel Francis Smith, were giving secret orders to capture and destroy military supplies that were reportedly stored by the Massachusetts militia in Concord.

    On May 10th 1775, the members of The Second Continental Congress meant at the state house in Philadelphia. This happpened after the battle of Lexington and Concord. At this meeting the members elected George Washington as commander and chief of the Continental Army.

    Fort Ticonderoga is a large 18th century fort built by the Canadians and the French near the South of the Chaplain in New York. It was constructed by Canadian Michel Chartier de Lobiniere. The battle was of strategic importance during the 18th colonial conflicts between Great Britian and France.

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The battle of Bunker hill was occured on the Charlestown penninsula on the north side of the Boston Harbour. British troops of the of the Boston garrison were against troops of the American Continental Army. The ratio of soldiers were 2,400 british troops against 1,500 Americans. Towards the end of the battle, the british ended up killing the Americans.

    The Battle of Quebec
    the battle was between American Continental Army forces and the British Defenders of the city Quebec. It was the first major defeat of the war for the Americans. General Richard Montgomery was killed, Benedict Arnold was wounded, and Daniel Morgan and more than 400 men were taking to prison. Those who remain behind were sunjected to a variety of punishments after the British re-established control over province.

    The Declaration of Independence was all about the Americans fighting for their freedom. The Contenital Congress' Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin had the task of drafting a formal document of the Americans intentions. The Delcaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776. This was a huge event for America because we earned our freedom after fighting for it for so many years. This day, July 4, is now our Independence Day and we celebrate our well-earned freedom every year.

    "...One of the greatest battles that ever was fought in America" was taken place in the Summer of 1776. This battle was a turning point for The Revolutionary War it was the greatest win yet for the American forces. It led to increase foreign support fot the Patriots.

    The Birtish believed that New York was a great communication bridge for the northern and southern colonies. So they wanted to go there and attack. On August 27, 1776 Washington marched his troops to Long Island, New York and was ready to fight.

    The Battle of Trenton was taken in place in Trenton New Jersey 1776. The commanders of this battle were Johann Rall and Goerge Washington. Commander Johann was from Germany and 22 of his army was killed. Washington and his troops heard that Rall and his troops were stationed in Trenton and through a surprise attack on them. This was a huge event because it was the first victory after The Declaration of Independence was signed.

    The Battle of Princeton was taken place in Princeton New jersey. At this event Great britian had 2 commanders, Captian William DeLaPlace, and Charles Mawhood. Washington knew that the Commander had arrived at Princeton and he was expecting an attack and wanted to make a fight out of it.

    The Battle of Brandywine Creek
    The Battle of Brandywine Creek was taken place at Near Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania on September 11, 1777. "This victory was essential to give the soldiers hope that a group of rag - tag soldiers could indeed be victorious in their struggle for independence." On the Britian side, 89 troops were killed and 488 were wounded out of a force of 15,500. On Washingtons' side, 300 troops were killed and 600 wounded out of a force of 14,600.

    The Winter at  Valley Forge
    The Winter at Valley Forge was taken place in 1777 a few miles from Germantown at Valley Forge. After a harsh defeat, Washington led his army to Valley Forge for the winter. This was a turning point for the army beacuse "the training efforts of Baron von Steuben increased discipline and reinvigorated pride among the troops" and made a rag tag army a tough and strong fighting force ready to fight.
  • Battle of Vincennes

    Battle of Vincennes
    This battle was taken place in Illinios on February 23, 1779. News of Clark's achievement spread about the leaders of Kaskaskia surrendering to Clark without a fight. During this period the British recaptured Vincennes. Later Clark's forces returned and took back the town at the Battle of Vincennes.
  • Capture of Savannah and Charleston

    Capture of Savannah and Charleston
    In 1778, the city of Savannah, Georgia was captured by the British. The seige of Savannah took place from September 16, to October 18, 1779. The seige was a fight to take back Savannah from the Britsih, which was a fail when "Polish nobleman Kazimierz Pułaski, fighting on the American side, was mortally wounded" which had the British keeping Savannah until July 1782, when the Revolutionary war was over.

    The Battle of Camden was located in North of Camden, South Carolina on August 16, 1780. This battle was a huge victory for the Britsih. "The British decided to renew a "southern strategy" to win back their rebellious North American colonies" after they had lost at The Battle of Saratoga.
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    The Battle of Yorktown
    This Battle was the ending point of the Revolutionary War. This is becasue as the battle was happening, the British tried to do one more cunterattack but it failed. After, the British realized that there was no use, and that they had no chance, so they surrendered for a truce. The signs of surrender were signed on October 19 by Cornwallis. This was the end of the Revolutionary War.

    The Treaty of Paris was signed on September 3, 1782 and this treaty ended the War. This showed that The United States defeated the British and gained their rights back. This also showed that America was one independent union.
