The Sugar Act
The Sugar Act was the first law passed concerning tax revenue in 1764. This increased duty on foreign sugar imported from India. The tax dropped substantially after protests. This was important because it was the first Act Americans really didn’t like and came as a bit of a shock. Graphic above

The Quartering Act
This act required colonies to provide food and quarters for British troops. And they were upset because they were paying taxes to buy food for troops that they thought were unnecessary during a peaceful time. This was significant because the soldiers were not always kind to the American's. Graphic above

The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was by far the worst act in the colony's eyes. The Stamp Act required stamped paper certifying payment of tax. The taxes weren't the worst part about the stamp act though, it was not having a say. This is the first real and direct rebellion from the Americans they said "No taxation without representation." Townshend Act
The Townshend Act required tax on glass, white led, paper, paint, and tea. Again Americans wanted representation before taxes were placed and that is why this was important. https://www.history.com/.image/t_share/MTY2MzEwNjc4OTk3NTEwMDkx/sons-of-liberty-gettyimages-517725556.jpg -
Boston Tea Party
Men disgusted themselves as Indians and boarded boats at the dock. They dumped out a total of 342 chests of tea into the ocean. Then they burned the tea leaves. This made Britain very angry with the American people. https://images.fineartamerica.com/images-medium-large-5/1-boston-tea-party-1773-granger.jpg -
The Declaration of Independence
One of the most significant things that happened in U.S. history. The official document declaring Independence from Britain.
