    End of the French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War ended so now the king is taxing everything so the the war broke out because they didn't want taxes, taxes were to high and that’s what led up to the Proclamation of 1763.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    This was an order from the king saying that all colonists were banned from settling west of the Appalachian Mountains. The colonists ignored this they believed they had the right to live where they pleased.
  • Sugar Act

    It was a tax on sugar and molasses and other things. People decided that it would be easier to just smuggle goods onto their ships. If they got caught there were harsh punishments. This led James Otis to come up with the phrase "Taxatation without representation is tyranny." People decided not to buy the goods, which is called boycotting.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    This act required colonists to house and feed British soldiers. As English citizens the act violated their rights, so some of them refused to let the soldiers.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This is when colonists had to buy an additional stamp for documents like wills, contracts, newspapers, and even playing cards. The colonists thought this was an unfair tax that they had not input. This tax was demanded to be repealed. They burned stamped paper. They held the stamp act congress in New York City.
  • Townshed Acts

    Townshed Acts
    This act said that the British would not tax goods already in the colonies but they would tax the imported goods. Colonists smuggled goods onto ships so they did not have to pay the tax. The British were smart and decided to pass a law saying they could search the ships this law was called the writ of assistance.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Many would say this event was the starting of the Revolution. This was an event that five men were killed and some were badly hurt. The massacre starts by a mob of colonists yelling threats at British soldiers. Some of the colonists through rocks and snowballs others were swinging clubs. At one point someone in the mob said something like "fire". The British thought this order came from their Captain and fired.

    Tea goes up to 3 pence a pound. This puts the colonial tea merchants out of business. The tea must be imported directly from the British India Company. This gives the British a tea monopoly.
  • Boston Tea Party

    On this day close to 10,000 pounds worth of tea were thrown over British ships. In todays money that is about 1,000,000 dollars. Each full crate was about 400 pounds of tea.

    They closed the port of Boston until the tea was pain for. The trials were moved to England. They banned town meetings so that no one could make any plans. There strength was the Quartering Act.
  • First Continental Congress

    This meeting had my famous figures at it like George Washington and Samuel Adams. This meeeting was called to order to try and figure out what to do about the Intolerable Acts. The Congress concluded that they should demand repeal on this act. Also organize a militia, boycott, and meet again in May of 1775.

    Paul rode on horseback telling people " The regulars are coming the regulars are coming." William Dawes and Samuel Prescott rode along with them.

    Seven- hundred British troops head to concord to seize munitions. Seventy- seven minutemen waited for the British, then the shots were fired, eight farmers died. The war began and it was the first time that is was Soldiers vs. Soldiers. This was going tohave a huge impact on the world.
