The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was put into effect on March 22, 1765. Parliament required a stamp to be on all legal documents, pamphlets and newspapers, then put a tax on these stamps. Stamp Act Congress of 1765
From October 7 to 25 1765 an assemblage of twenty-seven delegates from 9 different colonies came together. The nine colonies represented were Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and South Carolina.

Townshend Revenue Act
Passed on November 20, 1767, this was the act of putting taxes on more items. Some examples of things taxes were put on are tea, paper, paints, wine, glass, and fruits. Though this tax was light and payable, what the colonists really wanted was representation.

Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre happened on March 5, 1770. What started as a few colonists taunting a lone British officer became a violent fight resulting in the death of five civilians. Boston Tea Party
Bostons response to the Tea Act - Britains attempt to support the struggling East Indies Company. About 100 men disguised as Indians boarded the ships and smashed open and dumped 342 chests of tea into the Atlantic Ocean. The significance of this act is that it gave others the courage to stand up against taxation without representation. However it also caused a negative reaction in some. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence formally approved by Congress on July 4, 1776. We celebrate this day every year.
