  • The French and Indian war

    fought by the British and French it was over who would get the strong power of America. After lasting seven years it ended with the treaty of Paris and the British winning
  • The Proclamation of 1763

    enforced by King George III, after gaining the American territory from France they made it so American colonists were prohibited from setting west of the Appalachian Mountains
  • The sugar act

    The sugar act was a tax on the American colonists after the French and Indian war. It was a tax from the British parliament on sugar to help pay for the expenses of war and to keep British troops in America
  • The stamp act

    The stamp act was another tax from the British parliament on all paper goods. Colonist were required to pay for a stamp and had to have it on their paper materials for them to be legal
  • Townshend act of 1767

    The Townshend act was a tax on all glass, lead, paints, paper and, tea imported to the colonies. Colonists hated this act so much and thought it was so unfair that they boycotted all the goods from Britain
  • The Boston Massacre

    A confrontation between eight British soldiers and a group of colonists. When the guards were being struck they shot out at the crowd an killed five of the men.
  • Tea act

    This act would let companies ship and sell tea to the colonists in America without having to stop in England to try and reduce the great amount of tea they had
  • Boston tea party

    This event was a protest from the American colonists angry at Britain for taxing the colonists even though they had no say in the parliament "taxation without representation". So, they dumped loads of tea imported from the British into the water of the Harbor
  • Intolerable acts

    Laws passed by the British parliament after the Boston tea party, the laws were meant to punish the colonist of Massachusetts for their disobedience in the protest
  • 1st Continental Congress

    People of power from the 13 colonies aside from Georgia had a meeting held in Philadelphia to organize the first big resistance to the British Parliament
