  • French and Indian War

    The was between the French and the Indians to gain territory in North America.
  • The Proclamation of 1763

    This was initiated by the British right after the French and Indian war. They were trying to kick the Indians off of the land they newly won
  • The Sugar act

    British leaders aimed to end the trade of sugar and molasses from the French and Dutch West Indies
  • The Stamp Act

    This was a direct tax on the colonist. legal documents and printed materials had to have a tax stamp provided by commissioned distributors who would collect the tax in exchange
  • Townshend Acts

    This was a series of small acts where they taxed goods that were shipped out to the American colonies.
  • The Boston Massacre

    This happened in Boston where a few American colonists got into a fist fight with a British soldier. The fight soon escaladed into a bloody slaughter.
  • Tea Act

    The British Parliament allowed the companies to ship tea straight to the American colonies instead of landing in Europe first.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The American colonists were angry that there was taxation without representation on their tea. They dumped 342 packages of tea into the harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The British talked about punishing the American Colonists for the Boston Tea Party.

    A group of delegates from the continents gathered together to discuss their resistance to the taxation implemented from the British.
