  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Britian put a tax on sugar and molasses because they were in a huge debt after the French Indian War. The colonists disagree with this taxation because the colonists did not have a representitive in Parliment, and therefore should not be taxed
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This act required a government tax stamp on all legal documents like newspapers, letters, and so on. Colonists joined in protest and made mobs against the Stamp Act.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The colonists must find a wa to house British soldiers stationed in America. This means providing them with food and shelter by law, even if you could barely afford to feed your own family. Colonists saw this as an attack on their rights.
  • The Townshend Revenue Act

    Britian permits taxes on glass, paint, oil, lead, paper, and tea. This enraged colonists, causing riots and people mobbing the costoms office. When troops came to stop the crisis, the colonists did not rebel but rather put forth an agreement to boycot Britian.
  • Boston Non-Importation Agreement

    This agreement was by Boston that merchants and traders would not import or export trade with Britian. This agreement was in refute of the Townshed Revenue Act. This agreement made it easy for the colonists to rebel and boycot Britian.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Bristish troops open fire on colonists in Boston because of the mobs getting too rowdy. Five colonists die, making them demand that British troops are removed from the U.S.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    When the East India Company was struggling financially because of the colonists boycot of tea, the British gave this company a monopoly on tea sales. In refute, the colonists did not allow the boats to unload their cargo and then began the Boston Tea Party.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    In refute of the Tea Act, colonists in Boston don't let the boats unload their cargos of tea onto the docks. Then, a colonist group dresses as Native Americans and dump many boxes of tea into the Boston Harbor. This causes the British to inlist the Intolerable Acts.
  • Boston Port Act

    Boston Port Act
    The Boston Port Act was one of the Intolerable Acts. It made it so goods would not be shipped from or to Boston. This outraged many colonists. This made other colonies give Boston grief supplies and made it so the colonies worked together for the first time.
  • Massachusetts Government Act

    This act restrained the rights of the colonists in Massachusetts. It made it so that they did not have a constitution and also that they were limited to the number of meetings they could have. It also took away the right of people is Massachusetts to elect to governer, the British were to appoint them. This was one of the Intolerable Acts. Many colonists saw this as a voilation of their rights.
  • Administration of Justice Act

    This act changed how trials were run in court. Because trials were bias and many did not side with the king, Britian installed this act to make sure that Britian always had a representitive if someone had been in riot or had rebelled law.
  • Quartering Act of 1774

    This was a reproposal of the first Quartering Act in 1765. This act was made for punishment to the colonists for the Boston Tea Party and was one of the Intolerable Acts. Once again, colonists were outraged.
  • The Quebec Act

    This act was to add land to the colonies but also applied old French laws that were fought off long ago. The colonists once again saw this as an attack and this was known as one of the Intolerable Acts that the British applied to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea Party.

    First Continental Congress

    A Congress is formed in Virginia and sends Britian a Declaration of Rights. Colonists also begin plan to boycot Britian once again. This brings the colonists together as Americans.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    The British troops try to seize colonist military supplies, but the colonists refuse them and 70 men fight the British troops. This was the start to the Revolutionary War.
