Tsar Nicholas II mobilizes Russsian Troops
Under politcal and military pressure, Tsar Nicholas II mobilized the Russian Troops against Germany and Austria-Hungary. -
Declaration of War
Outbreak of war found Russia unprepared for war against Germany. -
March Revolution
A large crowd marched through the streets of Petrograd breaking shop windows and shouting anti-war slogans. -
Putilov Iron Works
Owners of Putilov Iron Works locked out its workforce after demanding higher wages. 20,000 workers took to the streets. -
200,000 workers on strike!
Tsar Nicholas II ordered to supress "all the disorders on the streets of the capital." -
Tsar is Abdicated!
The Tsar is abdicated leaving the Provisional Government in control of the country. -
New Leader of Russia
Alexander Kerensky became the new leader of the Provisional Government. He was unwilling to end the war. -
Bolsheviks are arrested.
Kerensky gave orders for the arrests of leading Bolsheviks who were campaigning against the war. -
October Revolution
Leon Trotsky order the overthrow of the Provisional Government. Vladimir Lenin agreed and the Bolsheivks were able to start taking over railway stations, telephone exchange and the State Bank. -
Power in the hands of the Soviets
The All-Russian Congress of Soviets met and handed over power to the Soviet Council of People's Commissars. Vladimir Lenin was elected Chairman. -
Rise of Stalin
Stalin was elected general secretary of the cnetral committee of the party. He was highly regared by Lenin. -
Lenin's Death leads to deep division for the Soviets
Trotsky verses Stalin. Stalin will counter Trotsky and break the back of the central committtee.
