    In the year 1800, it was the Georgian Era, and the Regeny Period. This era included big hats, flimsy shoes ornamental clips and many more.
  • Shawls

    Shawls
    In 1800 there were "kashmir Shawls", these were made from cashmere wool. They were made from very fine wool and embroidered patterns. This shawl emphasised the clasical effects that women would strive for.
  • Parasols

    Parasols
    Women carried dainty parasols. This was more for decerative purposes,( then when it came to the 1900's). Women would either carry folding small fans, shot silk ,or taffeta parasols with ivory handles.
  • Hats

    At night women would wear exotic turbans. The white satin mameluke turban was trimmed with an ostrich feather was very popular. (ex: the red hat on far right).

    In 1804 womens hair accessories or jewelry consists of ornamental hair combs. Women liked to keep hair short or tucked away with these hair combs to emphasize their earrings.

    Reticule Handbags
    The reticule handbag was a solution to the hiding of the pocket on the skirt when the hoop was big enough. Reticules were pretty small decorative purse like bags, similar to a clutch (small evening bag). They were made with steel hoops which gaved it a framed effect. Still others might be steel mesh trimmed with pailettes and steel fringe beading. Others might be circular with ribbon drawstrings and feather trimmed.

    In 1815 women wore very large bonnets. This was called the Leghorn Style, the name was gotten from the leghorn straw. They were made from taffeta silk, they were ruched and pleated to make flower pot hats, they had wide and deep brims.

    These bonnets were called Poke bonnets. But mostly called capotes. they were usually made from firmer crowned bonnets trimmed with ribbons, feathers, frills and sometimes flowers.

    In the 1820's womens handbags were made more properly than a peice of fabric, than before. They were made with either soft drawn up leather, or rigid and buckled hard leathers ,or decorative materials.

    Shoes in 1820 were very flimsy. They were worn under the lady's dresses. They were made out of silk satin, linen, leather for the bottom, and silk ribbon ties. These were mostly worn inside, or for evenings.

    In 1830 hats changed for the bigger and in the womens sense the better. In 1830 womens hats, were called bonnets. A large brim framed the womens face from the front but hid her profile from the side.

    Aprons in 1840 were not made for function but were made for "show". Decorative aprons were a very popular accessory. This was made from cotton, dye and/or paint. There were stenciling on the border of the apron. Stenciling was done with dye or paint stamped through cut-out designs on a stencil.

    Neck Ribbons/ Frills
    Neck ribbons or frills were very popular in 1850. Neck ribbons would often have brooches in the middle. The neck ribbon would be worn on the womens neck. The neck ribbon/ frills was usually made out of cotton, in various colours.
  • Shoes (Boots)

    Shoes (Boots)
    Boots were made with satin or kid and finished with uppers of fine cloth. In the beginning of the 1860s, heels began to be added to boots. They were often rougher leather men’s boots. They usually laced up over the ankle, and often had elastic or “spring” siding to allow for flexibility. These are mostly worn outside.
