    Birth
    Oscar Schindler was born in Svitavy, Moravia on April 28, 1908. He became a Czech citizen around 1918 when Moravia was incorporated into the Czechoslovak republic. He also grew up catholic and stayed in Svitavy during the interwar period.

    Marriage and Jobs
    Oskar married a women by the name of Emilie Pelzl in 1928 after attending many trade schools. He had three jobs that he worked, he worked for his fathers farming machinery business, he opened a driving school and worked as a real estate agent for the government.

    Oskar Schindler served for the Czechoslovak army in 1938. He achieved the rank of lance corporal. He began working in the office of the military foreign intelligence for Germany in 1936.

    Oskar joined the nazi party in February, 1939. With his attidutw he did not seem like the kind of person who would become a wartime rescuer. But in years to follow he would rescue over 1,000 jews from Auschwitz.
  • Germany invades Poland

    After Germany invaded Poland, Oskar moved from Svitavy to Krakow in October 1939. He then bought a Jewish owned business and turned it into a factory, called Deutsche Emalwarnenfabrik Oskar Schindler, which then would be called Emalia.
  • The Schindler list

    The Schindler list was basically a list that his workers wrote up that saved jews from having to go to other camps. It saved a couple thousand of Jews. 1940s.
  • Schindler's factories

    Initially Schindler had factories that he created and made lists to force Jews to work at them but really he was saving them from having to go to some of the worst concentration camps in Germany. His factory being called emialia, which made ammunition. They reportedly ownly made a lousy wagon full of ammo in 8 months. October 1944 Schindler relocated his plant.

    This plant was schindler's plant when he relocated further away from plaszow. They kept suspicion down by presenting fake sales facts to authorities. Schindler left the plant finally in 1945
  • After the war

    After the war
    Schindler and his wife settled in regensburg, Germany after the war in 1949. They moved to Argentina and separated permanently but did not divorce. He then went back to Germany alone in 1962, and was awarded with the title "righteous among nations"
  • Schindlers death

    Schindlers death
    Schindler died in October 1974 almost completely unknown and poor. Jews and their family's payed for his burial in Israel. Since then we have made his factory a museum you can still visit today
