The main character, Lily is born to Deborah and T-Ray. -
Lily's mom dies
Lily's mother and father are fighting, and her mom pulls out a gun. It drops onto the floor and Lily picks it up and it goes off. It ends up killing her mother Deborah. -
T-ray confronts Lily
Around this date, lily is at the stand on the side of the road selling peaches. T-ray comes over and tells her she is going to school, and wants he to know what happened to her mother. She tells him she already knows, and he gets mad. -
Lily is teased
Lily is teased at school for what she has to wear. Her father never buys her clothes, so she has to wear what she makes in school. -
Lily is caught
Lily is in the orchard with her mother's stuff, when T-Ray comes out and thinks she is with a boy. She is yelled at and out onto the grits for a while to feel her punishment. -
Lily turns 14
Lily's story starts here, when she turns 14. She is trying to live a good life with her awful fathr, but it is very difficult. -
Lily and Rosaleen go to jail
Lily and her nanny go into town for her to vote, but on the way, some racist white men start to cause stuff. Rosaleen pours her snuff juice on their feet, and they go to jail -
The great escape.
Lily breaks Rosaleen out of jail, soon after she runs away from her father as he is coming back to beat her. They decide they are going to try to go to a town where she believes her mother was -
The big pink house
They run into a store to get food, and Lily sees the same honey as the picture she has. She asks about it and they are lead to a great big pink house home to three bee keeping women. -
They get to stay!
The girls agree to let them stay in their jouse for a while. They ar eshowing them their job as bee keeping, and they give them a room.
