It was in Mexico in 1846 and it was important because it formed a treaty and the United States gained more territory. I think it was a conflict because they were fighting over land and they didn't have a choice but to give it up.

    Compromise of 1850
Henry Clay was the person who made the Compromise of 1850 because of the spread of slavery. He was having a debate over it and knew they needed a solution. It was a conflict because the north did not like this idea at all.

The main person in the violence was John Brown. It started because the state of Kansas was trying to settle and people were coming in trying to change their decision on being a free or slave state. It was in Kansas in 1856 and it was important because it was a time where the Missouri Compromise was repealed and the violence was all about the decision they were going to make. It was a conflict because it started a lot of problems since people want the state to be a slace state.

    House Divided Speech
This speech was made by Lincoln during his presidency. He stated how he thought the Dred Scott case would lead to the states legalizing slavery. It took place in Illinois in 1858 and it was important because it pointed out that you could still be a slave in a free state. I think it was a compromise because everyone thought it was fine since blacks didn't have rights anyway, only he blacks thought it was a problem.

    John Brown's Raid
John Brown and his men too part in this raid. They planned on taking federal arsenal and ammunition along with taking slaves. Election of 1860
The person that was involved was Stephen Douglas. He knew he was going to win against the republicans and he did and hey didn't like that because he suppoted popular sovereignty. It started in South Carolina and moved to Chicago in 1859 and it was important because Lincoln had won by just enough votes to win the election. I think it was a conflict because the republicans wanted to win so they found a way which was Lincoln to win.
  • South Carolina Secedes from Union

    South Carolina Secedes from Union
During this time Lincoln had just became president. Some states were celebrating even if they didn't vote for him like South Carolina. It happened in South Carolina mostly in 1860 and it was important because it showed how people dealt with Lincoln becoming president and how each state handled it. I think it was a conflict because the line made it so the south had slave states and the north had free states but the republicans didn't like that either.
