Significant Literacy Experiences

I was read to each night for as long as I can remember.
  • Going to the Library with my Grandmother

My grandmother would take me to the library every Monday afternoon after school.
  • Book & Writing Clubs

My grandmother would involve me in her Book and Writing Clubs. We read the books together and wrote short stories and poems together. We also did crossword puzzles and word searches.
  • Reading is My Favorite Subject

In 2000, reading becomes my favorite subject and my 2nd grade teacher is my inspiration to become a teacher.
  • Library Special in School

Library is my favorite special in Elementary School; i loved checking out different books each week.
  • Start Middle School

I start middle school and I am in Honors Language Arts, still reading nightly with my grandmother.
  • Reading Award

I won an award for reading the most books in my class for the semester in 8th grade.
  • High School English

I start high school in 2006 and I am in Honors English. I am not a fan of the required readings, I would much rather read Nicholas Sparks. The only book I actually enjoyed in class was To Kill a Mockingbird.
  • Start College

In 2010, I graduated high school and started college at CCBC. I still love to read, though I have broaden my horizons away from Nicholas Sparks and discovered Emily Giffin.
  • Current

Currently, I still like to read, though I don't read as much as I used to. I love reading on the beach and long car rides/plane rides, but I am a lot more busy, and reading isn't my first choice of relaxation anymore.
