The Dred Scott Decision was when Dred Scott, a former slave, was told to return back to Missouri with his old master. He had been living on free land for five years. He decided to sue for his freedom but the court had a 7-2 decision and he couldn't sue in court. -

The Secession Convention of 1861 was a meeting to decide whether Texas should secede from the U.S. either as a independant public or join the Confederacy. The council decided to let the citizens decide and four days later the margin voted 166 to 8 to secede. After seceding Texas joined in with the Confederacy. -

On this day Abraham Lincoln, the current U.S. president, arrives in Washinton by train along with is friend, Ward H. Lamon amd detective Allan Pinkerton. The city threw a parade for them but several people feared for their safety and held the parades secretly. -
U.S Constitutional Ammendment Against Slavery
On March 2, 1861, the U.S. added the ammendment to their constitution that no other States could interfere with another states slave-holding laws. They ,under no circumstances, are allowed to go against another state and mess with their slave-holding.
