  • Lynn was found dead!

    Harper’s body is found in Lawson’s Bush. Dr. John Penistan, assisted by Dr. David Hall Brooks, performs an autopsy on Harper’s body.
  • Truscott was taken to custody

    Truscott is taken into custody. Doctors examine him starting at 10:15 p.m.
  • Truscott was charged

    Truscott is charged under the Juvenile Delinquents Act with Harper’s murder. Later that day, they seize the clothing Truscott was wearing the day police picked him up, including his underwear.
  • Judge ordered Truscott to be tried as an adult

    Magistrate Dudley Holmes of the Juvenile and Family Court orders Truscott be tried as an adult. truscott’s application for leave to appeal Magistrate Holmes’ decision is denied.
  • The Trial

    Truscott’s trial takes place in Goderich, Ont., before Justice Robert Ferguson and a jury. Seventy-four witnesses testify.
  • Guilty.......

    The jury returns a verdict of guilty, with a recommendation for mercy. Judge Ferguson, as required by law, sentences Truscott to be hanged.
  • Transferred!!

    Truscott is transferred to the Ontario Training School for Boys in Guelph, Ont.
  • Book Published

    Isabel LeBourdais’ book, The Trial of Stephen Truscott, is published.
  • Truscott goes supreme

    The Supreme Court of Canada hears testimony from 26 witnesses, including Truscott, who did not testify at his trial.
  • Submissions to the supreme court

    Lawyers for Truscott and the Crown make oral submissions to the Supreme Court.
  • Beat Down

    In an 8-1 decision, the Supreme Court rules that had an appeal in Truscott’s case been heard, it would have been dismissed.
  • Parole

    Truscott is released on parole. He is 24.
  • Wrongly Convicted?

    Lawyers from the Association in Defence of the Wrongly Convicted file an application on Truscott’s behalf asking that the federal minister of justice review the case.

    The Ontario Court of Appeal hears live testimony from 17 witnesses, including a women who was nine at the time of the murder
