  • Hitler Appointed Leader of Nazi Party

On 29 July 1921, Adolf Hitler took leadership of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (the Nazi Party). Hitler being promoted to the head of the Nazi Party was one of the big stepping stones for him to get all of the power to commit the atrocities in World War Two.
  • Washington Naval Conference

The Washington Naval Conference began on 12 November 1921; it was hosted in Washington DC and contained three major treaties: the Five Power Treaty, the Four Power Treaty, and the Nine Power Treaty. They were about putting a limit on how many ships each country could make and respecting China’s international boundaries, but Japan broke most of these which led to World War Two.
  • Hitler Youth

The Hitler Youth or Hitler Jugend had early origins in the early 1920s, but it received its name on 4 July 1926; this was its recognized beginning. The Hitler Youth was a terrible organization, they effectively brainwashed these children into believing all of the awful things Adolf Hitler proposed.
  • The Maginot Line

The Maginot Line was a line of defenses to protect France from Nazi Germany invading them through Alsace-Lorraine or Italy; it was very well fortified, it was almost invulnerable to aircraft, and tanks; it even had a railway network if all else failed. It began construction on 6 December 1926; however, the Maginot Line was not nearly as well fortified along Belgium; which happened to be where the Germans invaded, and took over France.
  • Japan Seizes Manchuria

Japan is not a very big country at all; it stretches only from Maine to Florida, and they were rapidly militarizing and spreading out over the Pacific; however, they needed supplies to spread out. So on 18 September 1931, Japan invaded Manchuria through Korea and used it to get more supplies and grow its army.
  • The Stimson Doctrine

The Stimson Doctrine was declared on 18 February 1932; Secretary Stimson created it to show that the United States Government did not recognize Japan seizing Manchuria. This showed the United States’ dissatisfaction with Japan because it violated many agreements that both the United States and Japan had agreed on.
  • Hitler Appointed Chancellor of German Reich

Adolf Hitler was appointed Chancellor of the German Reich in Hindenbergh’s office on 30 January 1933, and the Nazi Party took control. This marked the beginning of the major part of Hitler’s plan; he had total control of the Government, and the people; so, he could start to do whatever he wanted.
  • Gestapo Formed

Adolf Hitler’s Minister without portfolio Hermann Göring created the Gestapo out of the secret police force Amt III on 26 April 1933. The Gestapo would become a formidable force, and they were feared by many; they would do the “dirty work” for Hitler.
  • Book Burning

The Nazi Book Burning began on 10 May 1933, and this took place in 34 different cities/towns. The Books that were burned were considered to be “un-German” so they were burned; however, most of them were just Jewish books, and books by other people Adolf Hitler accused.
  • Italy Invades Ethiopia

Italy went to war with Ethiopia on 3 October 1935, because Italy wanted more territory after they were promised some after World War One and did not get any land. Italy invading Ethiopia was showing how bad the League of Nations was at doing their job; they were not even a “paper tiger” they were just paper because they let Italy invade Ethiopia for no apparent reason other than some border disputes.
