    Louisiana Purchase
    Overnight the US doubled in size with the purchase of the Louisiana Territoryfrom Francce. We bought the entrie territory for only 15 million dollars, or 4 cents an acre. Thomas Jefferson was the president who bought it. Napoleon Bonaparte sold us the land from France. Thanks to Tomas Jefferson we gained most of the land we have today.

    Corps of Discovery
    This dangerous expepedition really helped our country in mapping the land. Thomas Jefferson wanted to map and record he got from the Louisiana Purchase. Lewis and clark were two tough men Jefferson sent. they soon got Sacagawea to join them. She helped protect them and get them food. Lukily Lewis and Clark were willing to risk their lives just to map land.

    When we look at world history, the war that broke out in North America in 1812 was greatly overshadowed. The war lasted from June 18, 1812 to February 17 1815.This war was between Britain and the United States. The Whie House was even Burned down. The two countries soon had a forgiving treaty. Thankfully we had a treaty or we wouldve lost many more men.

    Andrew Jackson got us the beautiful state of Florida BY going against orders. Spain had owned the land before we did. Andrew Jackson raided Seminole Tries and overpowered the governor of Florida. The Adams-Onis treaty soon gave us Florida without any doubts. Thankfully Jackson went against orders and got us the beautiful state, and my favorite state.

    The US didn't want Europe to colonize with North or South America. The Monroe Doctrine was a foreign policy reguarding Latin American Countries in 1823. The US would see colonizing and infereing as an act or agression. James Monroe stated the doctrine. The US was being stingy with their land and didn't want Europeans anywhere near it.

    Indian Removal Act and Trail of Tears
    The terrible nightmare for Indians actually helped us in the end, but was very rude. Andrew Jackson forced indian tribes to move to Oklahoma. the tribes included the Creek, Cherokee, Seminole, Chickasaw, and Choctaw. The passage they had to take was terrible and had soldiers following them. The villainous Andrew Jackson was disrespecting indians and their homes.

    Can you beleive Texas used to be its own republic? Well, thats right, Texas used to do its own thing. There was a big battle at the Alamo in Texas and it is now a big part of history. Sam Houston was the president while Texas was its own republic. ThankfullyTexas ended up joining the United States because it is a great state.

    Mexican American War and The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
    We gained a lot of land from the Mexican American War. The Mexican-American War marked the first U.S. armed conflict chiefly fought on foreign soil. It pitted a politically divided and militarily unprepared Mexico against the expansionist-minded administration of U.S. Mexico had lost about one third of it's territory. Because of this war we gained Utah, California, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico.
  • Oregon Territory

    In 1846 we gained the Oregon Territory after we threatened to fight for it. At first, we had to share it with thr British. James K. Polk makde the statement 54, 40 or fight which meant we would fight for the line of latitude and longitude 54, 40. we soon compromised on the line, 49. Thanks to Mr. Manifest Destiny we have the states of Oregon and Washington.
