    The Apartheid started after the National Party was in power in South Africa in 1948. But because it is a all-white governmen began enforcing policies of racial segregation.

    The population of South Africa was classified by race. They passed an act to segregate blacks and whites.ANC responded with civil disobedience, led by Nelson Mandela.

    There was a law passed that creates a separate education system for blacks and whites. Blacks are trained to prepare them for a life as part of the working class since they are not allowed to do anything more than that.

    Nelson Mandela, an anti-apartheid, is arrested with several other people for fighting against apartheid. He was charged with treason, but after a four-year trial he was found not guilty.

    The Prime Minister Hendrik Verwoerd was assassinated september 6th 1966, in Capetown South Africa.

    More than 600 killed in clashes.
    There were more than 600 that were killed in clashes between black protesters and white security forces during uprising which started in Soweto.
  • Anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko is killed.

    Anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko is killed.
    Steve Biko, one of the people of the Soweto protest, was arrested on August 18, 1977. He died in police custody on September 12 and the cause of death was severe brain damage, likely he was beaten by police.
