    This was important because he found a route to America, the New World, and started the spanish exploring in North America.

    He mapped nearly 800 miles of shoreline.
    This was important because his map of the coast led others exploring the land of the Gulf coast.

    In 1593, Fray Marcos and Esteban set out in search for the golden cities of Cibola. unfortunately, Esteban looking of women, ends up getting killed by indians. When Fray Marcos returns he reports seeing cities of gold. The gold he saw or thaught he saw turns out to be no gold.

    When Hernando de Soto died on May 21, 1542 Moscoso succeeded him as commander of the army. Luis de Moscoso Alvarado with the Army marched west possibly reaching northwest Louisiana and then marched to the west coming to Texas. Not finding any gold and fighting Indians they went back to the Mississippi River and built seven bargantines, or pinnaces, with which to seek a water route to Mexico. They had followed the coasts of Louisiana and Texas and eventually reached Mexico City.

    Coronado searched for the 7 cities of gold and Cibola.Their guid to Cibola lead them in multiple directions. When Coronado reached Cibola he figured there was no riches. Frey de Niza said there were. He had Frey de niza ejected for the lies he told.The expedition continued and they traveled to Quivira, found no transportable riches,and also found no wealth. The second journey was guided by Pedro de tovar and it was most important because they discovered the Americas more.
