    In the year, 1492, Christopher columbus sailed west to find a new route to Asia. He assumed that there was nothing but water but on his way to Asia but he encountered the New World. This voyage was very important in history because it introduced us to new land and riches.

    Pineda's explored the coast of Gulf of Mexico. He hoped to find a passage from the Gulf to the Orient. He was important to history because he encouraged further exploration.

    Cortes defeated the Aztec empire, and claimed Mexico for Spain. He set sail to the New world at the age of 19. He was looking for gold and he definately found it! He founf 99 tons of pure gold, this was important to history because it sparked exploration throughout Mexico.

    DeVaca's leader was named "Panfilo de Narvez". They sailed for Florida, but instead the crashed on the coast of Galveston island.

    DEvaca discovered Texas by a boat crash, the boat accidentally crashed on galevston island while they were there they met the indian tribe the karankawas.

    they searched for the cities of cibola and quivira. He ended expeditions because he didnt find anything, his goal was to find the 7 cities of gold. So no one went back for half a century.

    Desoto was the leader of the expedition. Unfortunately he died from a bad fever. His crew backed him up. and they gave the same basic report to not explore for a while, this is why it is important.

    Fray marcos said that Texas was a bad place (bad land, mean indians, no riches) and has nothing for the spanish. The porpuse was to find well wealthy cities.
