    Christopher Columbus set sail on August 3rd, 1492. He wanted to find a faster route to Cathay (present day China), and to find a direct water route from Europe to Asia. Columbus, didn't end up finding what he was originally looking for, instead he ended up discovering the New World. This was important because he opened the Americas to European colonization. This affected the future because he was one of the first to colonize America, and Europeans soon established America.

    Cortes Voyage
    Cortes conquered Mexico. He conquered a tribe called the Aztecs. He found gold in Mexico, and triggered more exploration because of his findings. This affected the future because it started more exploration.

    Pineda's voyage
    Pineda explored the coast of the Gulf of Mexico in hope of finding a water passage to the orient ships. Although he was a failure, the the map of the coast of the Gulf of Mexico encouraged more exploration in the area, which would soon lead to colonization.

    DeVeca discovered Texas by shipwrecking in Galveston, TX. He was missing for eight years until found in Mexico. DeVeca encountered the Karankawas, Jumanos, and the Coahuiltecans.

    Fray Marcos and Esteban Journey
    The purpose of the Fray Marcos and Esteban Journey was to go across the desert to the cities of Cibola. Esteban was killed by Zuni indians as he entered their pueblo. Fray Marcos reported he had saw the Seven Cities of Gold.

    Coronado's expediton
    The two cities he searched for was the Quivera and Cibola. Coronado's guide on the second part was Turk, who soon died. He discovered the Grand Canyon, and the Palo Duro Canyon. His importance was that he stopped exploration in Texas for lots of years.
