Columbus's amazing discovery

Aug 3, 1492

in1492,a spanish explorer named christopher columbus set out on a exploration to find riches and spieces from asia. the reason he set out this voyage was because spain was just getting out of a long war between the moors and spain needed money and supplies.So, Columbus begged the king and queen of spain and the finally exepted the offer and gave him 3 ships and 50 men. he had thought that he made it to Asia, but actually had came to the land now known as ameica.this mistake made him famous

Cortes's voyage

Feb 1, 1519

Cortes conquerad mexico with about 500 men and 11 ships. he was sent mexico on his own, but Velazquez had cancelled the trip, but cortes set out anyway.While conquring mexico, he had conquerd the Aztecs and made the natives in the tribe becxome slaves. conquering the aztecs and mexico was inportant because this gave him and spain more power and land to control

Pineda's voyage

Aug 3, 1519

pinade was sent by spain to map the coast of texas - flordia. this was important becasue he was the first exporer to map the coast, giving spain a new water route to mexico and the new world.

DeVaca's voyage part 2: decovers texas

Apr 25, 1528

after ship wreaking and landing on whats now flordia, DeVaca and his crew were now stuck on galveston . they had decided to scout the area and found somthing usual. they found a tribe called the karankows and were stuck living with them for about 8 years until they were found. in thoses 8 years they incountered the coahuilttecan, the jumanos and the karankawas and he did not fid the 7 cites of gold, making spain not explore texas for 150 years.

DeVaca's voyage part 1: start day

Nov 25, 1528

in the beginning of this grand expodition, DeVaca's was first lead by Panfilo Narveaz, but he died due to a horrible dieases. so DeVaca becamer the leader of about fourty men out of about 400 men due to lack of supplies, dieases and weather complications. the reason this expodition was made was to find the 7 cities of gold and bring back the riches to spain.

Fray marcos and Esteban's journey

Oct 25, 1540

after DeVaca's 150 year exploration hault. these two explores were sent back to texas with coronado to try and find gold and more slaves. during this fray marcos had reported that he saw a city of gold that was bigger than mexico city. Esteban was a slave and had the smart idea to say that he new the way but it was not to the golden city but it was back to his old village. once coronado found this out he told esteban to dig his own grave and then he straggled him and put him inside it.

Coronado's expodition

Oct 25, 1540

this exportation was made to find quivera and cibola. his guide during this journey was fray marcos who had reported that their were cities that were full of gold and bigger then mexico city. in reality, these to cites were just adobe indian villages. since he was wrong he was killed right then and there and was thrown into thre mississippi river. even though this jounry did not bring back gold, they had found the grand canyon and the palo duro canyon.

Moscoso's expodition

Oct 25, 1542

Mososo's expoditon stared out as moscoso following the leadership of Hernando De Soto. he quicly died of a fever, but they had met a tribe of indians that beileved he was a god. so they did not want them to know, so they through him into the mississippi river. the whole purpose of this expodition was to find and take gold back to spain.
