    First Special Classes
    The first special education classes began in the late 1800's and early 1900s. Classes and school were developed for children with severe disabilities.

    Movement to lock up "idiots"
    The goverment started to put the "idiots" into homes to lessen the reproduction rate.
  • IQ Testing

    IQ Testing
    IQ tests were started my the Frenchman, Alfred Binet. He was commissioned by the goverment to create a test to differentiate between normally intellectual children and inferior children.

    By 1923, over 34,000 special education students were enrolled in school.
