Steps Towards WW2

  • Hitler's Birth and Childhood

    Hitler's Birth and Childhood
Hitler's father was determined for Hitler not to share the same path as his older brother-in-law who was sentenced to jail for theft. Trying to prevent this from happening Alois Hitler constantly hit his son to try and teach him to be better. However this had the opposite respect and only stopped him from doing his best. His mother Klara influenced Hitler to do better however upon her death when Adolf was 13, he lost his motivation and dropped out of school 2 years after. He had a hard childhood
  • President Woodrow Wilson's 14 points

    President Woodrow Wilson's 14 points
President Woodrow Wilson's 14 points is based on how global peace can be obtained. This was thought through during WW1 and was meant to stop the War and any future wars. These points are aimed so nations only carry through their own borders and all land will be returned to their nations. By also reducing the number of fire arms, this will prevent international war.
  • Treaty of Versailles

    Treaty of Versailles
The Treaty of Versailles was a treaty signed by the major parties of America, Britain, France and Germany. The treaty was aimed to blame Germany for WWI and make them pay compensation. This also included punishments on which Germany would lose their major power. This was done by ristricting their army and land, and also pay the 6,000 million pounds in damages.
This treaty turned out failing due to trying to stop another war, however this lead to Germany feeling unfairly punished and lead to WWII
  • League of Nations

    League of Nations
The League of Nations was the bringing together of major nations around the world, This idea was to prevent wars and in turn, negotiate. This idead was thought up by America, however they were "too Prestige’s" to join
This however failed due to its lack of influence on stronger nations. This was due to its two major powers being France and Britain, and they were financialy too weak to fight. The League of Nation did not have an army, which lead to enemy nations not taking their threats seriously
  • Germany Hyperinflation

    Germany Hyperinflation
Due to the Treaty of Versailles, Germany was forced to pay for the damages caused from WWI. Germany's economy quickly dropped as the stock markets dropped. This cause hyperinflation as the German currency was worth so little.
Many people lost their jobs and more struggled to pay for simple groceries. This lead to protesting and gave Hitller a crowd that would support him. Hitlers power greatly rised into government on which his influence would cause him to start WW2.

  • The Kellogg-Briand Pact

    The Kellogg-Briand Pact
The Kellogg-Briand Pact was a Pact that tried to outlaw War. This however had a very little effect as this too place before WW2. This was mainly aimed at America because they hadn't joined the League of Nations, and America being such a strong nation.
Very similar to The League Of Nations, The Kellogg-Briand Pact did not stop wars from self-defence or certain military obligations.
  • German Facism-Hitler comes into Power

    German Facism-Hitler comes into Power
Facism is when a nation is taken over by a dictator and usually results in the dictator expanding their territory. This happened in Germany in 1933 when Hitler came into power.
His idea was to expand Germany and make it a stronger nation which resulted in Hitler opposing the Treat of Versailles.
  • Germany's Rapid Expansion against the Treaty Of Versailles

Germany's Rapid Expansion against the Treaty Of Versailles
In 1935 Germany started to rebuild its army in hope to invade other neighbouring nations. Hitler did this by introducing conscription and build up a strong military (on which was forbiden by the treaty of Versailles). Germnay then pushed into the Rhineland in 1936, however this was only done to see if the Britains of French were going to react. In 1938 Germany re-took Austria (welcomed them) and no retaliation from other nations. Germany then followed through its war path until reached Poland.
  • Appeasment

    Appeasment
The appeasment period was the act of prime minister of Britain Neville Chamberlain, ignoring Germany and Hitlers actions against the Treaty Of Versailles. This was a technique used to prevent Germany from starting a war, however this plan failed and lead to WWII. This was ignored due to the major powers of Europe being to crippled to fight after WWI.
In March 1939, Nazi Germany took control over all of Czechoslovakia and at this time, the major European powers realised they had to fight.
  • Invasion of Poland

    Invasion of Poland
After Hitler signed a Nonaggresion Pact with Poland in Jan 1934, Hitler invaded in 1939. This Pact was signed to prevent a French-Polish military whilst Germany was unarmed. In this way, when Hitler was ready to invade Poland, he was able to obtain victory. After Hitlers triumph in Warsaw, Britain and France declared war on Germany and the Soviet Union.
