    There was a lot of trading during the Turko-Egyptian rule, which was from 1821-1885. They trade goods and slaves with other countries, they also present a new language and culture which is the Arabic.

    Britain took over and split northern and southern Sudan in half. They put the government in the north and ignore the south. They bring with them trade, religion and monarchy.

    When the British came over and colonize Sudan they ignore the Southern Sudan and focused on the north. The Southern part of Sudan was closed to outsiders and only 4 of the 800 government officials came from the south.

    On 1971 he was elected to be president. In 1983 he used the law of Islam called the “Sharia Law” in his country. His positioned lasted until 1985, and Mohammed Taha took his place.

    Oil had been discovered in Southern Sudan, but there was no way for the south to transport the oil. Using the pipes connected from the oil to north Sudan the oil was transported there. The Northern Sudan kept the oil and the profit to themselves refusing to give any to the south. With this, the South would not give them more oil.

    SPLM/A It were created in 1983 and were given up in 1989 when Omar Al Bashir became president. They had fought against governments of Nimeiri, Sadiq al-Mahdi.

    The war was between the north and south of Sudan. They were fighting about culture, religion and also the natural resources that the south has and the north wants to get all the profit. The war mostly took place in the Southern Sudan.

    A drought hit Sudan causing famine, poverty, and starvation. Crops and food couldn’t grow; thousands of people were dying because of starvation.
