Jonathan is Born

1067 BCE

Jonathan is Saul's oldest son and was in line for the throne. He was a very brave warrior for his father.

Jonathan's Lifetime

Period: 1067 BCE to 1010 BCE

Jonathan was next in line for the throne but he understood that God's plan was to have David be King of Israel. He befriended David and helped him become king.

Saul Becomes King

1052 BCE

Saul was anointed by Samuel after the people of Israel made it clear that they wanted a king. Saul was the first King of Israel.

David is born

1038 BCE

David was Jesse's youngest son and wasn't known as a warrior or a good king. He took care of the sheep and his older brothers were the ones who went to battle.

David is Anointed King by Samuel

1026 BCE

Saul was still the king of Israel when David was anointed by Samuel but Samuel and God had already rejected Saul as King. Samuel did this because it was God's will even though it would have been considered treason.

Saul Begins to Pursue David

1025 BCE

After David defeated Goliath, Saul started to become jealous of him and pursue him. David ran from Saul for many years.

David Fights Goliath

1025 BCE

Saul's army is extremely scared of the Philistines giant but David fights him and wounds him with a single stone. Then he goes and uses Goliath's sword to kill Goliath.

Saul Pursues David

Period: 1025 BCE to 1010 BCE

Saul wanted to kill David for many years because he knew God's plan was to make David king. He was very jealous because David was popular among Israel and it was God's plan to make him king

Jonathan Meets David

1024 BCE

Jonathan and David were very close friends. When Jonathan first met David he immediately understood that it was God's will that David would become king instead of himself. Jonathan did everything he could do to help David become King and stay safe from Saul.

Saul Dies

1010 BCE

After seeing the witch at Endor Saul goes into battle against the Philistines and commits suicide. His body is eventually taken by the Philistines but taken back by a city from Benjamin. Saul reigned forty years.

Jonathan Dies

1010 BCE

Jonathan dies in the same battle that Saul dies in. When they're fighting the Philistines they are defeated and killed.

Ish-bosheth Rules

Period: 1010 BCE to 1008 BCE

After Saul and Jonathan die Ish-bosheth becomes King in the North and David becomes King in the South. Eventually, they clash and David wins and becomes king.

David Becomes King of Israel

1008 BCE

Soon after Saul died David became the official King of Israel after defeating Ish-bosheth, who was Saul's oldest son. David was finally recognized as king even though he had been anointed many years before.

David Brings the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem

1007 BCE

David had the Ark of the Covenant brought to Jerusalem on a cart like the heathens would transport it. Uzzah was killed after he touched the Ark of the Covenant to steady it. Eventually, they do it the right way and the Ark is safely transported to Jerusalem.

David has Uriah Killed

980 BCE

David killed Uriah and then took Bathsheba as his wife to try to cover up his sin. Eventually, their first son dies, Israel finds out, and David's wives are taken from him. God gave him this punishment after Nathan rebuked him.

Absalom Rebels Against David

978 BCE

Absalom, who was David's son, got some of David's warriors to follow him so that he could rebel against David and become King. Absalom fails to do so and is hung in a tree by his hair.

David Dies

970 BCE

David died from old age after helping defeat many nations who rose up against Israel. David was buried in Jerusalem. David reigned forty years.

Solomon is Anointed King

969 BCE

After David died Solomon was anointed king even though Adonijah was older. Solomon eventually had Adonijah killed.

God Give Solomon Wisdom

968 BCE

One night God came to Solomon in a dream. God told Solomon that he could have anything he wanted. Solomon asked for wisdom and God was happy that he didn't ask for material wealth, God gave him wisdom and also material wealth.

Solomon Builds the Temple

965 BCE

Before David died he got everything ready for the temple to be built. Solomon then began to build the temple at the beginning of his reign. He spent lots of money on it and had lots of resources for it.

Solomon Dies

932 BCE

After Solomon got lots and lots of possessions he eventually rebelled against God and followed false gods. His many wives led him astray and he stopped following and believing in God. At the end of his life he wrote Ecclesiastes and eventually died from old age. Solomon reigned forty years.

Rehoboam Becomes King over Judah

931 BCE

Rehoboam wanted to raise the taxes so Israel forced him to leave but Judah and Benjamin invited him in and he became king there. He was King of Judah in the South.

Jeroboam becomes King of Israel

931 BCE

Jeroboam became King of Israel in the North after Rehoboam was forced to flee. One of the first things he did was rebel against God and make two golden calves to worship instead of the one true God.

Rehoboam Dies

913 BCE

Rehoboam reigned for seventeen years in Judah. At one point he rebelled against God and the king of Egypt took many of his possessions. He then humbled himself and the Lord was with him again.

Abijah Defeats Israel

913 BCE

Abijah was the second king of Judah and the bible says that he did a lot of the same things his father did. God still blessed him because of what David did to follow God. He defeated Jeroboam.

Abijah Dies

911 BCE

Abijah reigned three years and he fought with Israel the entire time. He must have been a pretty good example even though he didn't entirely follow God because his son followed God. Abijah reigned over Judah

Asa Begins His Reign

911 BCE

Asa followed God completely he got rid of many idols and after being consulted by a prophet he stopped all of the nation from worshiping idols.

Jeroboam dies

910 BCE

Jeroboam reigned for twenty-one years in the North reigning over Israel. Jeroboam rebelled against God and because of that all of the his sons dies so that his reign and family line would be gone. Jeroboam reigned over Israel.

Jehoram is Born

888 BCE

Jehoram was Jehoshaphat's oldest son. Jehoram's siblings were Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariah, Michael, and Shephatiah.

Baasha Reings

887 BCE

Baasha reigned over Israel. He disobeyed God and god promised him that his family line would end. It came true and Baasha's son was murdered.

Elah Reigns

886 BCE

Elah reigned for two years before his commander Zimri murdered him when he was drunk. When he had began reigning God had said to his father that his house would be destroyed. God carried this out through Zimri. Elah reigned over Israel.

Zimri Reigns and Dies

885 BCE

Zimri also disobeyed God and soon after he started reigning the commander of the army, Omri, plotted to kill Zimri. He succeeded and became king of Israel. Zimri only reigned seven days. Zimri reigned over Israel.

Omri Reigns and Dies

874 BCE

Omri reigned twelve years after crushing a rebellion that split Israel. Omri again led the people of Israel to sin. He died and his son, Ahab, ruled in his place. Omri reigned over Israel.

Ahab Begins His Rule

874 BCE

When Ahab began ruling he was an evil man that had many idols. Ahab's wife Jezebel was even more evil than Ahab and was constantly trying to kill Elijah.

Jehoshaphat Begins His Reign

873 BCE

Jehoshaphat began his reign following God with all his heart. He destroyed many idols and never once worshiped idols.

Asa Dies

870 BCE

Asa died from a foot disease when he had reigned thirty-nine years. When he got old and had the disease he didn't look to God for healing but asked physicians for help. Asa reigned over Judah

Ahab Fights Ben-hadad

856 BCE

After consulting the elders of Israel Ahab goes to war against Ben-hadad. Ahab listens to Elijah and fights Ben-hadad twice and wins both times but the second time he doesn't kill Ben-hadad when he had the chance.

Jezebel Helps Ahab Kill Naboth

855 BCE

Ahab wants a vineyard but the owner says no so Ahab goes home and sulks like a little kid. Jezebel comes in and takes the situation as an excuse to have Naboth wrongly accused and killed.

Jehoshaphat Makes an Alliance with Ahab

853 BCE

Jehoshaphat made an alliance with Ahab and went to battle with him. Even though Micaiah the prophet prophesies against them. Jehoshaphat is reprimanded by a seer in Judah for this action.

Jehoram Starts His Reign

853 BCE

Jehoram ruled in Judah and disobeyed God. When he started ruling he killed all of his brother's and his father's men.

Ahab Reigns and Dies

853 BCE

Ahab reigned twenty-two years in Israel. Ahab also disobeyed God and worshiped idols. Ahab was worse than any other king before him.

Ahab Dies In Battle

853 BCE

Ahab went to war for three years in a row against Syria because he didn't kill Ben-hadad. Ahab finally goes to battle with the King of Judah to finish of Syria but one of the Syrian archers flings an arrow into the air and it kills Ahab. Ahab's blood is liked up by the dogs just as Elijah prophesied.

Jehoram Receives Elijah's Letter

851 BCE

Jehoram disobeyed God in many ways but God didn't destroy Judah because of David. Finally God sent a message to Elijah to send to Jehoram telling him that he would die from a pestilence along with his family.

God Defends Jehoshaphat in Battle

850 BCE

Jehoshaphat goes into battle against a much greater nation and God wins the battle for him. God makes the other army fight with each other and Judah gets a huge amount of plunder from the army's camp.

Elisha Succeeds Elijah

850 BCE

Elijah and Elisha travel together to Bethel, Jericho, and then to the Jordan. Each time Elijah tells Elisha to stay there but Elisha keeps following him. Elijah is taken up in a whirlwind to heaven and Elisha is given a double portion of Elijah.

Jehoshaphat Dies

848 BCE

Right before Jehoshaphat dies he unwisely makes another alliance with the king of Israel and builds ships with him. God is unhappy and the consequence is that all their hard work and money put into the ships is wasted when they are destroyed. Jehoshaphat then dies.

Elisha Feeds 100 Men

847 BCE

Elisha decided that it was time to feed the young prophets he was teaching so he asked for food. A man named Baal-shalishah brought twenty loaves of barley and fresh ears of grain. Elisha asked him to start handing it out but he said that there definitely wasn't enough. Elisha told him again so he started to hand it out. Everybody got food and there was extra leftover.

Elisha Promises the Shunammite a Son

847 BCE

When Elisha would go around throughout the cities a Shunammite woman would always invite him in. Eventually she even had a room set aside for him. Then Elisha decided to reward her. He knew that she had never had a child so he promised her that in a year she would be holding a child in her arms.

Jehoram Dies From Pestilence

841 BCE

Eventually Elijah's letter came true and Jehoram got the pestilence. Before he got the pestilence all of his family died from it except for his youngest son. Jehoram dies from the pestilence but was not honored as other kings were. He wasn't buried with the other kings.

Ahaziah Rules Over Judah

841 BCE

Ahaziah ruled over Judah for one year and didn't follow God. He made a friendship with Jobam (king of Israel) because he was Jobam's cousin. They were killed within five minutes of each other when Jehu rebelled against all of Ahab's house.

Jehu Rules Over Israel

Period: 841 BCE to 814 BCE

Jehu killed many people to finish off Ahab and Ahaziah's reigns. Jehu killed Jobam, Ahaziah, Ahab's seventy sons, and the prophets of bail. He ruled over Israel for 28 years. He was evil in God's sight even though he killed all the baal worshipers.

Athaliah Rules Over Judah

Period: 841 BCE to 835 BCE

After Ahaziah was killed by Jehu Athaliah killed all of the king's descendants except for Joash who escaped. Athaliah was extremely evil and almost wiped out the king's lineage which would have wiped out Jesus' ancestors. She was put to death when Joash was made king when he was old enough to rule Judah.

Joash Begins to Rule in Judah

835 BCE

Joash or Jehoash started out as a good king after being saved from evil queen Athaliah that had ruled in Israel. Joash started ruling over Israel when he was only seven years old.

Jehoahaz Rules Over Israel

Period: 814 BCE to 798 BCE

Jehoahaz was an evil king that God sent the Syrians to destroy. Eventually, he cried out to God and God saved him but even after that he still worshiped idols.

Joash King of Israel Rules

Period: 798 BCE to 782 BCE

Joash also disobeyed God and was destroyed by neighboring countries. Joash also cried out to God through Elisha and God listened to him. He defeated the Syrians three times in a row along with defeating Judah.

Joash Dies

796 BCE

After Jehoiada (Joash's advisor) died Joash rebelled against God and started worshiping idols. Eventually after being attacked by a nearby nation Joash was killed by men that were mad that he had killed Jehoiada's son, Zachariah.

Amaziah Rules in Judah

Period: 796 BCE to 767 BCE

Amaziah followed God but didn't get rid of any of the idols. He killed the men who had killed his father but listened to the Bible and did not kill their children. Eventually he followed idols and rebelled against God. Because he rebelled God sent Israel to defeat Judah.

Azariah Rules Over Judah

Period: 796 BCE to 767 BCE

Azariah followed God's commandments but did not destroy the high places so people in Israel continued to worship gods. God was not happy that he was doing this so he gave Azariah leprosy until he died. His rule overlaps with his son because Uzziah started ruling when Azariah got leprosy.

Jeroboam II Rules Over Israel

Period: 793 BCE to 753 BCE

Jeroboam disobeyed God but God still had mercy on Israel and made Jeroboam II a great warrior that restored the borders of Israel.

Uzziah Rules Over Judah

Period: 790 BCE to 739 BCE

Uzziah followed God but also didn't destroy the high places. Israel continued to worship there and Uzziah didn't do anything about it. But God blessed him and he used new technology to defeat other countries with a small amount of soldiers. Uzziah also got leprosy like his father at the end of his reign.

Zechariah Rules Over Israel

Period: 753 BCE to 753 BCE

Zechariah was an evil king that ruled over Israel. He disobeyed God and was eventually assassinated by Shallum. He only ruled over Israel for six months.

Shallum Rules Over Israel

Period: 753 BCE to 753 BCE

Shallum assassinated Zechariah and then continued to sin against God throughout his one month reign. He was assassinated by Menahem.

Menahem Rules Over Israel

Period: 752 BCE to 742 BCE

Menahem assassinated Shallum and then began to rule over Israel. He paid tribute to neighboring countries so that they wouldn't attack him. Menahem disobeyed God and rebelled against him.

Jotham Rules Over Judah

Period: 750 BCE to 731 BCE

Just like his father Jotham obeyed God but didn't destroy the high places. God didn't like this and he sent neighboring countries against Judah.

Pekahiah Rules Over Israel

Period: 742 BCE to 740 BCE

Pekahiah disobeyed God and didn't follow him during his reign. He reigned two years in Israel.

Pekah Reigns Over Israel

Period: 740 BCE to 732 BCE

Pekah rebelled against God, so God sent the Assyrians against him. During his rule the Assyrians attcked Israel and got lots of land.

Ahaz Rules Over Judah

Period: 735 BCE to 715 BCE

Ahaz was very evil and didn't obey God. He even sacrificed his children to gods from other countries. God sent countries against them but Ahaz made an alliance with Syria. Then Ahaz worshiped the king of Syria like he was a god.

Hoshea Reigns Over Israel

Period: 732 BCE to 722 BCE

Hoshea also disobeyed God and caused God to turn his hand against Israel. At first he paid the king of Syria tribute but when he stopped the Assyrians attacked Israel and completely destroyed them.

Hezekiah Turns From Idols

729 BCE

Hezekiah ruled over Judah and followed God with all his heart. He opened the temple and cleansed it from idols and he tore down the high places. He had a huge Passover and followed God continually.

God Defeats Assyria

701 BCE

Hezekiah cried out to God when Jerusalem was surrounded and God listened to him.The Angel of the Lord killed 185,000 Syrians and saved Hezekiah and Judah from them.

Mannaseh Begins His Reign

695 BCE

Mannaseh began his reign by completely rebelling against God. He completely forgot about what God had done for Hezekiah, his father. He did many bad practices and was even worse than the neighboring countries. The Bible says that he was as bad as Ahab king of Israel was and while Ahab reigns God says that he was the worst king to reign in Israel at that time.

Mannaseh Repents

645 BCE

The Lord spoke to Manasseh and he realized his sin. He then started to follow God and humbled himself. He also led Israel to follow God and repent. He took away all the foreign gods and everyone only worshiped God. Manasseh cried out to God when they were taken away to Babylon so God decided to let them return. Then Manasseh realized that God had saved him and that he was the one true God.

Amon Begins His Reign

642 BCE

Amon reigned in Judah after Manasseh and he rebelled against God. He turned back to do what his father had done before he had repents and Amon disobeyed God.

Amon Dies

640 BCE

Amon was killed by two of his servants. He reigned two years in Judah. His servants were not happy that he was rebelling against God so they killed him and had Josiah rule.

Josiah Reigns Over Judah

Period: 640 BCE to 609 BCE

Josiah reigned over Judah for 31 years. He rebuilt the temple and followed God's commandments. Josiah got rid of all of the high places and false gods all over. He also opened the house of the Lord for worship again. Josiah's servants found the Book of the Law while they were working and Josiah had it read to him. After Josiah heard it he tore his clothes because of his ancestors sin. Josiah also kept the Passover and had everybody in Judah take part in it. Eventually he died in battle.

Jehoahaz Reigns Over Judah

Period: 609 BCE to 609 BCE

Jehoahaz reigned three months in Judah before he was captured by Neco, king of Egypt. Neco made Eliakim, Josiah's son, king in Jeoahaz's place. Neco changed Eliakim's name to Jehoiakim. Neco also required one hundred talents of silver and one talents of gold for tribute. Jehoahaz disobeyed God and rebelled against him.

Jehoiakim Rules Over Judah

Period: 609 BCE to 597 BCE

Jehoiakim reigned eleven years in Judah and disobeyed God's commandments. Jehoakim attempted to break free from Egypt and stop giving him tribute but God sent many countries against Judah.

Jehoiachin Rules Over Judah

Period: 597 BCE to 597 BCE

Jehoiachin reigned three months and ten days in Judah. He rebelled against God and didn't follow him. King Nebuchadnezzar came and took many riches from Judah along with Jehoiachin. Jehoiachin's brother started to reign in Judah

Zedekiah Reigns In Judah

Period: 597 BCE to 586 BCE

Zedekiah reigned eleven years in Judah. He disobeyed God and Judah fell during his rule. He was the last king of Judah. He rebelled against the king of Babylon so the king of Babylon took them into exile. Eventually Jehoiakin was released from prison and dined with the kings. Zedekiah was killed when he was fleeing from the king of Babylon
