Taraji is an average girl who grew up in Washington DC with her two parents. Growing up they did not have a lot. They lived in "hood" but were content with what they had, turning their house into a home with each other's love and support. -

Howard University
Taraji transfers from a techinical school to Howard university to study thatre after failing her calculus class. She ended uo graduating from Howard with the triple threat award in Theatre Arts. -
The Father
In 1994 her sons father was shot and killed shortly before the birth of his child. they were high school sweethearts. -
Marcel Henson
Taraji's first and only child was born in May of 1994. -

Taraji and son move to Los Angeles with only $700 dollars in her pocket -

In 2001 Taraji landed a role in the tv series smart guy as her first gig. -

In 2001 Taraji landed her first leading role in the movie baby boy. -

Taraji won an oscar her hustle and flow soundtrack "Hard out here for a pimp". -

Taraji finally landed a role in her own weekly show called 'Emoire' which she plays a role as character named cookie who helped her ex husband build a successful music label.
