Created by Dr. Jaap Haartsen in 1994, this technology has thoroughly integrated itself with modern technology. Today it is used in everything from Headphones to keyboards. The technology was first introduced for consumer use in the year 2000. -
USB Flash Drives
Originally developed by a small Israeli company, M-Systems, the USB flash drive has become something of a household name. It is an external storage for computer systems that is highly portable. Anyone who owns a computer, and likely many of those who don't at the very least are able to identify what it is. It makes sharing and distributing information manually (not sending over the web) very easy and consumer friendly. -
Apple releases first generation IPhone
Envisioned by former Apple CEO Steve Jobs, the IPhone redefined peoples perspective of personal phones and became the starting point for the creation of all of the various touch screen phones and devices that we use today. -
HTC VIVE
This is a Virtual Reality gaming device co-created by companies HTC and Valve. I believe that the relevance of making VR a (relatively affordable) consumer technology will be seen further down the line. The capabilites of VR are just barely being touched, however i believe that the development of this tech will continue to explode as it is viewed as one of the more interesting new technologies by the present younger generation.
