The Temperance Movement
Temperance in the United States was first brought up in Connecticut. It was a movement that was started when economic change and urbanization was going on. It was for the abolishment of alcohol. -
The Underground Railroad
I couldnt find when it had started but the Underground Railroad was a system of routes that lead slaves to free northern states. At its height, between 1850 and 1860, it was said that 100,00 slaves had escaped using the Underground Railroad. A worker on the railraod names Harriet Tubman had made 19 trips to the south freeing 70 slaves. -
The Frogers
The Frogers was the first dramatic poeam writen about the Temperance Movement written by John Blake White. It was made into a play and premiered at the Charleston Theater in Charleston, South Carolina. This sparked a whole new genre of theater.
