In 1818, General Andrew Jackson raided Seminoles and escaped slaves since they were imposed as a threat. Additionally, he executed 2 British citizens on charges of inciting Indians and runaways. -
Onîs-Adams Treaty
Minister Luis de Onis and President John Quincy Adams came to an agreement using the popularity of Jackson's raid. Under it, U.S and Spain defined the western limits of the Louisiana Purchase and Spain surrendered its claims to the Pacific Northwest, and additionally, the U.S recognized Psanish soverignty over Texas.
