    This was a battle between Texas and Mexcian forces. Texas was being disloyal to Mexico, so Mexico wanted their cannon back. Texas said NO, and this was the first Time Texas fought back, and this lead to the Texas Revolution. Important Texans:

  • The Battle of the Alamo ( Febuary 23 - March 6, 1836 )

    The Battle of the Alamo ( Febuary 23 - March 6, 1836 )
    200 Texan volunteers led by William Travis and James Bowie were watching the Alamo. Santa Anna's 6,000 Mexican soliders went to the Alamo and surprised the Texans unexpectedly. Texas soliders lost the battle to Santa Anna. This led to the ultimate independence of Texas because Texas was more eager to win their independence, and Santa Anna lost many of his important soliders in the battle. Important Texans:

    The Convention of 1836 ( March 1, - March 17, 1836)
    The Convention began on March 1,1836. George Childress and 59 delegates were writting it. It was completed on March 16, 1836. It has 3 branches of government, and the Bill of Rights. Important Texans:
    George Childress - Wrote Convention of 1836,
    David Burnet - Pioneer and empresario. Also ad interim president ( means temporary government)
    Sam Houston - Commander in chief of army

    Massacre at Goliad. ( March 27 - April )
    Fannin and his 450 men were at Goliad. Urrea's troops arrived at Goild and a small skirmish broke out. Fannin later surrendered to Urrea. Urrea wrote to Santa Anna that all the lives of the prisoners to be spared. Santa Anna wrote back that all of them to be executed including Fannin. Many Texans were mad about the exicution and they were saying '
    Remember Goliad' and 'Remember the Alamo.' for the cries of the Texas soliders. Important Texans:

    Battle of San Jacinto ( Aprill 19 - April 21, 1836)
    Sam Houston ordered Texan forces to do a suprise attack on Santa Anna at San Jacinto River. Santa Anna and some of his soliders were captured as prisoners. Santa Anna signed paper saying that Texas can have their freedom in exchange for his life. Important Texans: Sam Houston - Leader and made Texas get independence.

    After Sam Houston won the battle at San Jacinto, David Burnet took Santa Anna to Velasco and had him sign 2 documents. In the documents Santa Anna promised that Mexico would never fight with Texas again. Important Texans: Sam Houston - won battle at San Jacinto
