    Begining of the 18th Dynasty or new kingdom- accension of Ahmose I

    Though we was either the son or brother of the previous ruler, Kamose, he was still considered the founded of a new dynasty as he unifed Egypt.

    Ahmose's campain to expel the Hyksos- the birth of the egyptian empire

    Ahmose begins his campaign to remove the Hyksos from the nile river delta. he destroyed the Hyksos stronghold at avaris, drove them beyond the eastern frontier and besieged sharuhen in southern Palestine. This was the birth of the Egyptian empire, as there were no political stronghols in the middle east at the time.

    Ahmenhotep

    son and succsor of ahmose, Amenhotep ruled from 1514-1493 Continued to expand the Egyptian empire. First Ruler to do away with Pyramids and build rock cut tombs. this was the beginning of what would become the valley of the kings
  • Period: 1493 BCE to 1482 BCE

    Thutmose I

    Thutmose was one of Amenhotep I 's generals, and due to his lack of an Heir Thumose came to power in 1493. he ruled from then will 1482. Married his full sister ahmose. Thutmose destroyed Karmah state, inscribing a rock as a boundary marker near kanusa-kurgas.

    continued the campaign in the middle east and expanded the kingdom more, but possibly to a point where they were spread to thin.

    Thutmose II

    not much nown about him, successor to Thutmose 1 and ruled from 14-82-1479. it is assumed he continued the work of thutmose the 1st. he was married to his sister Hatshepsut and it is belived they had a daughter
  • Period: 1479 BCE to 1426 BCE

    Thutmose III

    as Thutmose II and Hatshpeosut only have a very young daughter, a young son from a less important wife of Thutmose II inherited the throne. During the first years of his reign he was controlled by Hatshepsut as she was regent. this thutmose III ruled between 1479 and 1426 BCE.
  • Period: 1477 BCE to 1458 BCE

    Hatshepsuit becomes joint king of egypt

    there are differing opinions on how Hatshepsut became king, but it is known that after being crowned, she and Thutmose III ruled together until her death in 1458. Although officially styled as king, and depicted as manly in reliefs and statues, in less formal recordings she is noted as 'the kings great wife' or queen.

    Egypts power deminishes due to the expansion of the mitannian power, but then is regained by Military campaigns by Thutmose III

    Thutmose III used military force across gaza and yehem to regain control of the area. after many battles and sieges, Thutmose III was sworn an oath of submission by the Syrian princes. This was only considered binding to those who swore it, no to future generations

    Amenhotep II- coregency then complete rule

    Appointed as coregent at 18, two years before his fathers death, Amenhotep ruled as regent from 1426 to 1424 then as king from 1424 upon the death of his father, till his own death in 1400

    son of Amenhotep II, Thutmose IV atemped to establish peaceful relations with the mitannian king artatama who was succseful against the hittites. Aratama's daugther was married to Thutmose IV in exchange for the relinquishment of some syrian states to the control of the mitannian's/

    Thutmose IV's son amenhotep II was around 12 when he became king. his last years where spent in ill heath, he was obease when he died in his 38th regnal year.

    though there were two more pharoos after Tutankhamun officialy part of the 18th dynasty, his was the last reign of any length and importance. his funeral was helf by his succseor Ay.
