Any imported goods going to America had to go to England first, and then be shipped on English ships. Englad wanted close watch and control over the colonists. This caused the Dutch to be very upset, because they imported and exported goods cheaply.

This act put a tax on newspapers, commerical documents and others. This caused a huge uproar and led to the revolution. This was an act of control over the colonists.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
After the French and Indian war it prohibited settlement past the Appalachain mountains. It was placed to stop colonial expansion and from frightening the Indians.
I think this is an example of control, because they want to limit what the colonists can do.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
This act put a 3 cent tax on sugar, coffee and indigo, it banned the importation of rum. I believe this is an act of greed. The government is being greedy and taxing the colonists.

  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
The boston massacre was a outbreak between colonists and british soldiers. 5 colonists ended up dead, this caused a huge uproar, the british soldiers were accused with murder. I believe this was an act of violence because the soldiers didn't need to kill the colonists.
  • Boston Tea party

    Boston Tea party
The boston tea party was an outbreak of colonists boarding the tea ships from England. They tossed all the tea on the ships into the ocean. This showed that they had enough of there taxes on tea and other goods, they acted because they didn't want to be controlled.
  • Intolerable acts

    Intolerable acts
They were acts to discontinue landing of goods, wares, and merchandise in the city of Boston. There were acts of better regulating the government in massechussets. And an act for better provisional food. Basically, the colonists were fed up with this all, they did not want any more of the governments laws or acts. This was an act of greed, the government just wasnted control.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
This was the first war that started the revolution. Hundreds of British soldiers were marching to take away and arms cache from the colonists in Concord. The colonists didn't want to and a war broke out. This was an act of violence, the colonists had enough of the government controlling them, so they started fighting for what they believed.
