  • Navigation Acts

    Navigation Acts
    This act helped boom the colonial shipbuilding industry when the colonial trade was restricted. These acts slowed and organized the import and exportation of American goods with the European countries. There were many different views on this because there was a yield in jobs for dockworkers yet there was a huge jump in the shipbuilding industry.This is an example of Unity, The colonists from different places recognized their common interests and developed a way to share their interest.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    In order to try to stop the colonists from crossing the Appalachians. However the British could not enforce this act efficiently and colonists continued to cross onto Native American lands.The Colonist pretty much ignored this new act as they continued to cross over to the Native American lands. The Proclamation of 1763 is an example of differences because the colonists had one view of entering the Natives land and the British had another view on the colonist entering the Natives land.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    There was suspicion of people smuggling goods into the country. There were three things the act did; it lowered the duty of imported molasses, it put duties on specific imports coming in, and it strengthened the law enforcement.

    Colonists and Great Britain were unable to agree more and more about how the colonists would be taxed and governed this eventually turned into a rebellion. This is an example of distrust The colonist werent trusted. There were suspicions of illegal smuggleings .
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The colonists were forced to buy a certain stamped paper for every document, licence, newspaper, ect. and put special ¨stamp duties¨ on packages of playing cards and dice. If this act was not followed people would be tried in court. The colonists harassed the distributors of stamps and they boycotted British goods. This is an example of differences because the colonists did not like the fact that they had to pay for a stamp and put it on every piece of paper they were to send out, sell, buy.

    Townshend Acts
    This was an indirect tax on the colonists. This also put a 3-penny tax on the colonists favorite drink, tea.The colonists protested ¨taxation without representation¨ and created a new boycott of goods that were imported. This is an example of unity because women of all social classes were joining together and boycotting this tax. Men were all boycotting this tax as well.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    There was a competition for jobs between the soldiers and colonists. A fist fight started over jobs. A mob gathered in front of the Customs house and the people were making fun of the guards. An armed fight broke out and left 5 dead.People labeled this a massacre and published a dramatic drawing showing the violence. This is an example of violence because there were people fighting and five were left dead. The violence was against innocent people.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The night of December 16th 1773 a group of Boston member dressed themselves as Native Americans and took action on three tea ships that were anchored in the harbor. They dumped 18,000 pounds of tea into the harbor water. Colonists reacted by protesting violently. This is an example of violence towards property. The colonists were damaging the property of the ships and government. They dumped all of that tea into the harbor waters.

    Quartering Act
    This gave soldiers of the british a home in empty homes and buildings.The colonists reacted mostly negative. They had the fear of a standing army and cost. They had to pay for the taxes, food, and supplies for the soldiers. This is an example of distrust. The colonists may not have fully trusted the British soldiers with the lack of knowledge of what they were capable of.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    King George III was extremely mad at the damage to the British destruction. This one law closed down the Boston Harbor when the colonist would not pay for the tea they put into the harbor.People weren't happy about the soldiers being able to stay in their homes.The first continental congress and drawing of a declaration of colonial rights.Leaders of the colony create the first Continental Congress and draw a declaration of colonial rights.If the British used force the colonies would fight back.
  • Lexington & Concord

    Lexington & Concord
    There were rumors of there being stockpiles of ammunition in Concord. When everything thawed and the roads were clear Gage lead his men to march into Concord on the Lexington road where they would seize and destroy all of the munitions they could find while they were there.Minutemen cut off the British and enlist in battle.Lexington and then at Concord.This is an example of distrust because the colonists don’t trust the British.They believed rumors they didn’t know if they were true or not.
