  • Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763 protected colonial settlers from being attacked. This relates to Locke because Locke says you have rights, liberty, and property. This protected that.
  • Declaratory Act

    The Sugar Act declared that it has the right to tax colonies. This disagrees with what Rousseau said because he said government and people are a social contract, but this is no social contract.
  • Tea Act

    The Tea Act made it so that there was taxes on tea in the American Colonies. This is related to Montesquieu because he said that the government shouldn't use its power against you.
  • Boston Tea Party

    After tea was taxed, American patriots dumped tons of tea into the Boston Harbor. This relates to Montesquieu said that the government shouldn't use it's power against you.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts punished Massachusetts colonist for their defiance of throwing tea into the Boston Harbor. This relates to Montesquieu because he believed that the government shouldn't use it's power against you, but for the Intolerable Acts, it did.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Second Continental Congress announced that the thirteen American Colonies regarded themselves as thirteen colonies. Locke thought like the Second Continental Congress because he to wanted rights, liberty, and property.
